[Closed] The "other" dark side - talk to me about dirt jumping

I bought Stepson 1 a Commencal Absolut for xmas and he's been merrily charging around the place on it whilst wearing skinny jeans and a hoodie. Aside from transplanting his Avid Juicys to it, I'd not really done anything to it until yesterday...

...Stepson 1 rocked up with a wobbly rear wheel. Fifteen minutes with a spoke key put that right and while I was there, I fitted a spare Pike Coil for him - they're the same chassis as the Argyll IIRC so that should be up to the job. However, thanks to the bolt through, I've had to send him on his way with a WTB Speeddisc front rim and a set of Syncros AM bars. I'm a little worried that the front end might not be robust enough.

Can someone please suggest any low budget alternatives for the front wheel, stem, bars etc? Stepson 1 will be funding these by himself so they can't be expensive.

Oh and I'd appreciate some recommendations for DJ-capable components, eg rims etc.
