I assume everyone's heard the tragic news that Paul Dacre is stepping down as DM editor in November.  Well, his replacement has been announced.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/jun/07/new-daily-mail-editor-to-be-geordie-greig

Geordie Greig, editor of the Mail on Sunday.  Essentially the Anti-Dacre.

We live in interesting times.  Anyone have any biscuits?

Yeh I read this earlier, interesting indeed, apparently they aren't good friends and have very different opinions on brexit.

I have to say I was totally ignorant that the Editor of the MoS was a remainer. Is the MoS editorial line also pro remain or does it spout the same shite as the daily version? I've never felt the urge to touch it let alone read it.

they aren’t good friends

From what I can gather, that's a significant understatement.

Will the Daily Mail suddenly become a measured, envidence based news outlet because they change the editor?

If it does then I think whoever secretly runs the the world has grown tired of this whole Brexit shenanigans and is purging the troublemakers. All hail our lizard overlords.

Or maybe he’s moving to the BBC.

I dont read either but the impression I have got from Private Eye is the MoS line is whatever will annoy Dacre the most.

Which as editoral lines go is a rather good one.

But isn't Paul Dacre just going higher up the papers food chain?

Yeah, think he's on the board/director of the board of the parent company. He's like a nasty fart that lingers.

Well if he wants to signal a new start the first front page should be an apology

I woke this morning nursing a minor hangover as I celebrated Mr Dacre's imminent departure last night.  That he's being replaced by Geordie Grieg is significant, I would guess that the paper's owners have decided that the brand has become quite toxic of late.

DM owners probably realised that their target demographic is literally dying-out

Heard this earlier.

I’d like to celebrate but he’s not worth it.

I hope the whailing dhaily does a complete 180 on its retarded outlook and opens itself to inclusiveness on both race and the EU.

Maybe it’s time to educate its readership on the benefits of becoming a human, let’s hope it’s new incumbent takes the initiative to educate and inform.

Sadly, I doubt anything will change.. it will continue to splurge out racism and made up threats and lies.

Hopefully he we go somewhere where he can still connect with his core readers.

So, maybe Love island? The Jungle? Reichssicherheitshauptamt?  Kehlsteinhaus?

i really want to type words that relate to how I feel about him. Words like vile, abhorrent, traitorous, hypocrite among others, but the most revelvant one is a simple 4 letter word, beginning with C, banned in here, and rhymes with shunt.

The problem is that, like Farage, he can now happily slink off back under the rock they emerged from.

They infected the blood of the nation with their vile reactionary toxin to such a degree that we are where we are.

And now, just like Farage, he’ll leave everyone else to deal with the huge steaming turd he just curled out on your carpet

I read that farage has had his gold plated MEP pension frozen due to allegations of fraud.

So I doubt we'll hear much from him any time soon whilst the weasel tries to get his retirement fund sorted out.

Apparently a good chum of Osborne too, which is unlikely to be good news for May. It might just be signalling that the Rothermere rag is bottling it on Brexit and trying to establish a bit of distance.

Greig isn't going to be that much better I doubt. Plenty of anti-immigration and islamophobia in his closet.

Dacre hasn't gone away; he will still be an integral part of the rothermere empire but, hopefully, his malign influence will be curtailed.

Other than sniping at the mail Geordie Greig hasn't shown his views; all we truly know is that he has the ear of rothermere's missus.

In my teens the mail was a good read but, IMO, they have seriously lost the plot over 20 years and have pandered to the lowest common denominator in the Brexit debate; sells papers but only to those in the echo chamber.

The mail is beyond redemption unless there is a demonstrable change in direction and a name change; either one without the other will be useless.

Dacre's departure will probably turn off the money tap. No great loss.

The DM has had to shift it's stance on Brexit - otherwise it would have to defend what's happening now and over the coming months/years.

The DM is all about outrage and complaining - it's difficult to do that if the government is pursuing an agenda that you publicly supported.

Well no, but a very interesting article on R4 news last night was suggesting that the Daily Mail did more to influence the outcome of Brexit than any politician. Apparently politicians try to keep on the right side of Paul Dacre because of the amount of political influence he/Daily Mail has.

Yes it won't truly die until all the readers of the odious rag die.

We we had a pretty hard winter, I remember a week or so after the snow passed (both times) loads of Herses going back and forth the local graveyard.

They’re probably lucky H3N2 never really took hold in the UK.

Indeed, well documented. They publicly gloated the fact, along with that rag the sun.

Well, until we get an resolution to the Euratom issue after Brexit we'll be struggling to provide Radiotherapy. So if you are of an age where cancer is more common you better keep your fingers crossed.

I know it’s Polly ‘Bloody’ Toynbee, but this pretty much nails it for me.

The new forum really is gash.

Polly Toynbee did an opinion piece in the Graun on Dacre.

I agree with it.

Find it if you can, no chance of being able to put an effing link up on this shambles.

I find copy and paste works pretty well.
