It's a perfect STW haters thread. I can feel the teeth grinding from here! LOL
Which album to buy first?
Who?
emsz - don't blow your cover. You're far too amusing.
I've got the Blue and Red remastered albums, and several others. Prefer hardcopy rather than downloads, then I've got a backup. I'm sure there's going to be many, many people who prefer to download who will jump at the chance to get Beatles stuff now it's on iTunes.
So for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band it's......
Itunes download - £10.99
or
new CD from play.com - £8.95
or
2nd hand CD from ebay @ £3
and then rip the cd to get it in digital form.
Obviously I'm missing something about the art of pricing.
You are missing the fact that hype = price.
emsz - don't blow your cover. You're far too amusing.
You're not suggesting that emsz is another Mark Datz are you?? 😯
I predict this as the start of a number of marketing blunders by Apple. A terrible gaff to not realise that at least half of their demographic think the Beatles are at best crap and that they won't be quite so excited the next time they have a big hype-up on their site.
4 overated scousers - now available overpriced. Whoopydo mr jobs.
I thought Gary Marshall at Tech Radar did a good job on this:
Do you remember where you were when Apple made its world changing, unforgettable Beatles announcement? I was right here, on this chair, in front of this computer, making this face: meh.
....
[But] In a business where shareholder returns matter more than songs, it's nice to know that the CEO of the world's biggest music retailer actually cares about - and still gets excited about - music.

R5 summed it up pretty well this morning.
"Its about as relevant as putting Bach on iTunes, people will still download it cos its classical, the beatles is now classical."
That Tech Radar article hits the nail on the head though.
Is there anyone in the world who like the Beatles not actually downloaded the discography torrent?
The only people this is big news for is the people who have spent their time negotiating the deal.
"Tomorrow is just another day. That you'll never forget. Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes."
I mean - ffs!
Today, The Beatles on iTunes.
Tomorrow, Pendulum on wax cylinder.
