Looking for a summer hat , brim and ventilation required . I've got a Tilley which is fine for autumn winter but way too hot for summer .
Needs too be semi presentable as some of the gardens I work in are open to the public .

Just visit village hats and take your pick. Best hat site around. I'm not affiliated with them, just a bald bloke who understands the need for a good hat.

As a baldy, with an easily sunburnt bonce, I have a huge array of hats. However, the big orange burny thing came out when we were off out walking in't Lakes, and I'd forgotten one. So I just popped in Sports Direct and got one of These

Cheap as chips, very comfy, and my head didn't end up looking like an angry tomato 🙂

Anyone who wears a Panama hat ought to be thrashed, As well to have tattooed on your forehead the words ‘I am a fatuous ****’ as to wear a Panama.

My white tilley wasn't too hot for summer in Japan and some time in the USA, can't imagine having a problem with it here.

Yeah, I could have done better with the first one, but I think he looks ok in a Richard Gere-ish kind of way. 😉

EDIT: I struggled to find some wearing a Panama Hat with clumpy shoes...basically. 😀

He's wearing beads and a silk scarf.
Nothing about that is "ok" 😉

Take one used white hankie. Tie a small knot in each corner. Place on head.
Job done
Cool and sophisticated.
Ready to hit the fun fair at the beach.......don't take a camera 😯

Just googled Tilley hats

You lot have got too much money! 😯

I could never spend that on a hat as, along with sunglasses, they will inevitably be left in a pub somewhere

Are these the gardens where you wear nothing but your hat?
If so I recon you could adapt this to fit the old lad. 😉

A decent Panama, not a crappy straw hat from a beach stall, with a brim width to suit your height/build and height to suit the length of your face.
You can pay thousands but £80-£120 gets you a true Panama but it will probably be blocked and finished in Europe at that price (not a bad thing in itself)
If it's graded then that refers to threads per inch, the higher the number the finer the weave.

A decent Panama is incredibly light, if you get one that fits well you hardly know you are wearing it.

Yeah, well, that says far more about you than it does about those who wear Tilley hats!
I've got two, a waxed cotton one and a Canadian Winter one, in the summer I just wear my now very faded six-panel duckbill hat, which serves to stop the top of my head burning and peeling, and keeps both sun and rain out of my eyes and off my glasses/sunglasses.
You can put your name and phone number inside a Tilley hat, and register against loss on their website.
