Yep - this country is not going to be a very nice place to live within 5 years.
Gloating right wingers! FFS can you imagine this place if the reverse had occurred?
Just a relief that common sense has prevailed.
Shocked and saddened that the people are so easily persuaded to vote against their best interests. My heart goes out to the disabled and the public sector workers this morning, whose lives are to be cut to ribbons. Poor sods.
As for Europe - Christ, what a horrible prospect.
Looking forward to the attacks on welfare, the nhs, the poor, the jobless, foreigners, low tax payers and the EU? I'm glad someone is, because I'm definitely not.
Exactly what we heard from the lefties five years ago, by now the entirety of the UK was supposed to look like a scene from threads - in case you had forgotten, the NHS was supposed to have already been sold off by now!
Has it still not occurred to anyone that if relying on this rhetoric didn't work last time, it was even less likely to work this time?
Your relief may be short-lived when the contrived pre election boomlet stutters to a halt. Then you too might find yourself one of the new jewry.
And did I mention the ghost at the feast? Greece's continuing problems are by no means 'solved', May the 11th being the next crunch point. It may yet be the domino which wipes the smug grim of Cameron's face.
Another 5 years of Cameron et al and this country is ****ed!
Hard to believe some people actually want that!
Exactly what we heard from the lefties five years ago, by now the entirety of the UK was supposed to look like a scene from threads
Meaningless non-post. The kind of empty rhetoric that gets self serving scum back in. Quality.
some people
c.9million of the 25m+ who bothered to vote.
A few more than "some"
Clearly your view wasn't the majority view.
Very bitter comments from the labour supporters.

Even more so when it appears that they think they are voting in their (individual) best interests.
Should be a time for reflection rather than gloating or bitterness. Can't say I'm looking forward to the next few years though.
Beeb forecast now 329 cons!
Another 5 years of Cameron et al and this country is ****ed!
Wasn't It was supposed to be ****ed after the first five years?
Just heard Balls has asked for a recount as he's 300 behind.
Pleeeeese!!!!!
Full recount at Balls' seat.
Deeply disapointing result, but not surprising. Well, just have to lump it won't I and hope Dave really does put the country as a whole at the heart of his policies as he said this morning, but has that really happened in the past five years? Here's hoping a paper thin majority will mean the most extreme policies in their manefesto will get toned down.
Recount? Requested by Labour!
It's looking good 8)
"the future of Balls is very much hanging"
Nice one auntie beeb.
ninfan - MemberWasn't It was supposed to be ****ed after the first five years?
it seems we're going to find out what influence the lib-Dems were having...
There's a lot if stunned chatter on my faceboak. Seems to be a lot of people making lots of assumptions about what they was expecting based on their self selected audience. Considering the amount of them in the Oxon and Northants I'm not really sure why they are that surprised. (Numerous assumptions made on my part, but hey ho)
I'm disappointed my candidate of choice didn't get in, but I'm bitterly disappointed he doesnt actually have Tusks.
I have to admit, I dislike UKIP quite strongly. And as unpleasant as I've found some of their supporters in actual 'real' life. I find it more wrong that 14% of the vote is so badly represented.
Another 5 years of Cameron et al and this country is ****ed!
These lefties really don't give up, do they? 🙂
I think the loss of Danny Alexander is the only one I regret. Cable is a silly old man and I wont mourn his eviscerating, but Danny was far more pragmatic in his economics and I think he did a good job at the treasury and should take a lot of credit for the economic stability we have now.
+1 I've spoken to him a few times in and around Aviemore and he's a thoroughly decent chap.
Probably the best thing for him personally though - I'd imagine that he won't struggle to pick up a decent job.
This country is ****ed already, and has been for the last few decades
So gloating OK, but expressions of frustration not?
c.9million of the 25m+ who bothered to vote.

Which ignores the wishes of the 16million who didn't want a Tory government. FPTP is a Groundhog Day car wreck system.
Stoners point about ukip is quite shocking, an EU referendum, might be a bit of a worry !
Which ignores the wishes of the 16million who didn't want a Tory government.
...and ignores 12-13% who voted UKIP with no resultant representation.
Careful what you wish for.
Staggered, I really don't get the Lib Dem collapse they seem like a good lot and NC always sensible when interviewed. Is it some paper I don't read that done a great job for the Tories, anti immigration, anti Europe ?? Just don't get it.
Wasn't It was supposed to be ****ed after the first five years?
Didn't you get the memo? It is.
If UKIP have the support they should have the representation, I'd rather have them up front and accountable.
sure.
Just as long as it's after we've got through a Euro referendum unscathed.
Last polls I saw had pro Europe up at 65% so hopefully it's a safe play.
Didn't you get the memo?
Was that the same memo that told us about the double dip recession and a million more unemployed?
http://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-labour-wrong-economy/20443
And...the SNP are toothless in Westminster, another great result!
I'm proud of the people of my country, and absolutely gutted for the NHS in England and Wales. However, that's what the people there voted for, so that's what they'll get.
Was that the same memo that told us about the double dip recession and a million more unemployed?
And the million use food banks, the deaths of poor people due to benefits sanctions and the like.
Still, eh, Gideon Osbourne has said he wanted another term to "finish the job". So I must therefore guess that in 2020, around this time of year the state of the country will be one as they say in biblical terms "a land flowing with milk and honey"?
It will be interesting to live in this utopia which is due to appear. When do you think we'll see the first fruits of this wonderful society emerge?
Here's hoping a paper thin majority will mean the most extreme policies in their manefesto will get toned down.
I expect a paper thing majority will give the swivel eyed loons on the right of the party more power not less.
Staggered, I really don't get the Lib Dem collapse they seem like a good lot and NC always sensible when interviewed. Is it some paper I don't read that done a great job for the Tories, anti immigration, anti Europe ?? Just don't get it.
The price paid for not telling the public what they were doing to moderate the actions last government.
Lucas survived. Wasnt expecting that.
Last polls I saw had pro Europe up at 65% so hopefully it's a safe play.
Last poll I saw on the GE had labour and the Tories neck and neck
A tory utopia is one where the rich help themselves to even more money. They think this is the way things should be.
Which ignores the wishes of the 16million who didn't want a Tory government. FPTP is a Groundhog Day car wreck system.
That's kind of how democracy works!
molgrips - did you get back home in time to vote?
1 Green MP.. At least some people care enough..
The only positive i can see is the how we need an overhaul of the voting system and a change to proportional representation.
The poor, ill, unemployed, disabled had better start praying.
An interesting statistic.
Scottish electorate: 4,094,784.
Scottish turnout: 71.1%
Scottish votes: 2,911,391
Votes for UKIP: 3,419,994 (and we're still not done counting)
(of which 47,078 were in Scotland)
And the million use food banks
That's a lot of people that love a handout
Can I just say that this is the second time I've posted on this thread?
no
yourguitarhero - indeed, I loathe UKIP but this is a perfect example of how the UK voting system is broken.
And it now looks like we're going to get a majority Tory government with no inclination to change it.
Boundary changes will be up there on the "to do" list then and these would seem to benefit the Tories.

Yup, going to a food bank is just like a neighbourhood BBQ. Kids playing with kittens, cold beers, tasty burgers and stock market tips from your neighbours. And all for free!
Edit - I have no idea how quoting works on this forum
Well having been on a plane for the last 11hrs it has been killing me to know what was going on. First all night election TV I think i have missed in way too many years.
Well what an absolute result.
Majority Conservative government
Clegg out
Miliband out
Osbourne out
All we need now is Mr Farage to lose and I'm cracking open that bottle of Bowmore. 😀
Yes, UKIP voters are very hard done by this system.
It's also terrifying that there are more people voting UKIP than the entire Scottish turnout.
Ed Balls.
Balls-watch is go!
And nice to wave bye-byes to Mark Reckless too.
Milliband was right - vote SNP, get a Tory government.
Sturgeon was wrong. Voting SNP doesn't give Scotland influence at Westminster.
Be interesting to see how much of a restraining hand the Lib Dems had in the coalition.
Anyway, I'm off to enjoy my public sector job while it still exists!
Anyone want to buy a stone?
FPTP is a Groundhog Day car wreck system.
People seem to have short memories - the nation decided to keep FPTP in a referendum not 5 years ago.
I expect a paper thing majority will give the swivel eyed loons on the right of the party more power not less.
Didn't Major's "Bastards" number about 20? I think Cameron's Bastards number about triple that.
Given that Cameron has already declared that he's not standing again, That going to be 5 years of European shitstorm, and an internal leadership battle
EDIT: Balls has lost his seat. Milliband and clegg to resign?
molgrips - did you get back home in time to vote?
Yeah, fat lot of good it did.
Can any of you Tory boys tell me what I have to look forward to? Or what my public sector friends have to look forward to?
Yesss
Milliband was right - vote SNP, get a Tory government.
Even if every single person in Scotland voted Labour, the Tories would still win.
Gratuitous "Balls out" headline.
Balls out!!!
Does this night get any better!!? 😀
Yvette will now run for Labour leadership I reckon 🙂
Ed Balls out! What a fitting comment on Labour's economic policy.
Simply marvellous!
Another five years of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.
Yvette will now run for Labour leadership I reckon
Burnham's a shoe-in for that I reckon, unless Len McCluskey doesn't like him.
Just looking at Ed Balls Wikipedia page, looks like it's been hacked!! 😆

some weird voting locally. the libdem vote appears to have gone straight to UKIP, labour and tory percentage unchanged.
Morning you lot
Truly depressing how popular UKIP are south of the border - second most popular party in Wales!
So what happens to those who lost their seat? Unemployed? Or some back office job for the party some where?
Heard someone laugh at clegg during his speech, that is distasteful.
I didn't vote ukip, but cannot understand the continued demonising, I don't think they ever believed they'd get in power just like most protest parties, people seem to think we'd be voting for hitler the way they spit farages name. Admitedly he comes across a bit of a numpty, but most of them do.l..
The Guido boys liked the Ed Balls news.
Some serious blubber movement there.
My Tuppance: Tory's will tear each other apart, the RW of the party won't be ignored and the paper thin majority (if there is one) will make them stronger and bolder. I think Cameron's one nation speech this morning was aimed at them as much as to the rest of us.
Next 5 years is going to be a bloody mess.
Bye bye Ed plus one for fitting comment on Labour fiscal policy, take the hint labour

Hate to break it to you but the Scottish version got 50 seats.
It's a sad day. This means no Boris. I was hoping for some entertainment.
