I'll wait and see but I think the real result will be a lot closer.

I'm not blaming Scotland for labour not winning. I don't especially support labour just hoped there would be a change in pm.

Lol at Calder Valley comments. The pub I was in the other day was a bit like that.... UKIP voters, at a guess.

I thought the conservative candidate has a passed conviction for violence? Anyway he's got too many posters up. In Hebden the boat-dwellers seemed to be planning on voting Green, but they are the minority.

Right, that's it, im going to bed.

I hope I don't wake up to..... Well, you know!

it's not our fault

Even if labour's collapse in Scotland is decisive, which I think it will be, the only fault is their own for abandoning their principles and turning themselves into the tory party. I'm arguing with someone on facebook ATM who thinks the labour party should go more to the right! Where Scotland leads, the north of England won't be far behind. Labour will be irrelevant within 10 years if it doesn't get a grip.

Assuming we're looking at the exit polls, then it's not our fault. Even if every seat in Scotland was Labour, the Tories would still win.

Except the threat of the SNP forcing Labour to pile on more debt was probably a big motivation to vote Tory.

I suspect if the polls had shown Labour with 50 Scottish seats in the bag far less people would have voted Tory and far more would have voted Labour.

It seems clear to me that the rise of the SNP has saved the Tories, who were nearly killed off by UKIP.

Andrew Neil saying there's been no "green surge" - the polling seems to suggest a several hundred percent increase in their vote share so that seems pretty harsh.

Well you have to bear in mind Andrew Neil is an arse.

So it's Scotland's fault for scaring the English into voting Tory?

Rubbish. This election, like most of them, is won or lost in England.

As an aside, just how much is it acceptable to drink on an election night...which is also a school night? I'm on my 3rd large glass of red already and eyeing up the whisky bottle.

Bottle of wine and two bottles of real ale so far. Got another ale left, then it's the gin. Not looking good for work tomorrow.

Election nights don't have an 'acceptable' limit. As long as you can hear the alarm clock tomorrow morning you're good to go.

It's not enough that English voters might have given us a Tory government, they're trying to give us the blame too 😆

Why I laugh? 3 beers, a good gig, and I am a total lightweight. Innes and Gunn is orrible though.

Desperately don't want the Jockanese to have any say on the forming a coalition UK government. Especially with that red ****.

I have half a keg of homebrew left, plus the cooking sherry if things get desperate.

No suggestion of blame. But my opinion is without the perceived SNP 'threat' Labour would have won more English seats and would have won.

Pure opinion, of course.

May have overdone it with the port. Legs feel kinda funny - I'm expecting Henry VIII style sores in the morning. Damn that high sugar content. 🙁

Anecdotally, I know of a number of people who are died in the wool labour and Lib Dem voters who have done just that. Including most of my family. It makes me rather sad.

Up bright and early and that exit pole is a bit of a surprise, be interesting to see how this pans out.

So it's Scotland's fault for scaring the English into voting Tory?

Rubbish. This election, like most of them, is won or lost in England.

Country 2013 review
England 502
Wales 30
Scotland 52
Northern Ireland16
Total 600

Wonder why that is

Do you not believe that many English swing voters dislike the SNP? Why do you think the Tories were so keen to get Ed to commit to some sort of potential deal with them? You're right about where the election is won and lost in terms of seats, but incorrect to assume that people in England pay no attention to what's going on up North. Unintended consequences and all that.

tom harris more or less conceded glasgow south there, hearing that the SNP has probably took rutherglen as well, which I'm stunned about.

58 SNP is possible, tbh I wouldn't be surprised if the 1 left was a tory! 😆

tbh if this is a big a rout as that, if labour are to have any hope of a recovery and keeping any seats at holyrood next year, they are going to have to become independent from the london party.

Rumours Jim Murphy is getting papped out on his ear!

Have fun with your eventual independence and *sarcasm on* all that oil wealth *sarcasm off*

Good to know that Scots didn't actually want to influence Westminster, just break away.

Sturgeon speaks passionatley and is a bloody good public speaker. All UK parties could take a bloody good look at her and see what people want.

Dumfries & Galloway could go to Finlay Carson (local Tory to me-only 4miles away......EEEK 😯 imagine that?), lots of support from the farming, retired community.
