Funny how things happen, having not seen The Alarm since 2008 (I think, might have been 2007) I then end up seeing Mike Peters twice in three weeks; first with Big Country and then last night with The Alarm.
On both occasions he was in top form, and last night was fantastic, great music with great fans.
Just thought I'd share
I went on a student protest (Maggie Maggie Maggie Out Out Out etc) back in the 80s and The Alarm were playing on the back of a truck at the front of the march. We thought they were hilariously bad.
Just thought I'd share 🙂
Also, years later I went to this silversmith/artist bloke in Farnham to buy my wife a present. He had this sculpture of a head that was really nice. I think it was made out of silver wire or something. I was admiring it and the silversmith said "Have you heard of Mike Peters?" "Er yes" "That's modelled on his head". I bought a silver shell instead.
They were the first band I ever saw live back in the early 90's. I remember the gig being very bouncey with lots of pogoing and Mike Peters sporting a quality mullet. 🙂
Listened to Spirit of 76 not long ago too and it was shockingly bad.

The bastard 80's love child of U2, Big Country and Simple Minds. With none of the good bits.
....... go on then, what were the good bits of Simple Minds?
Saw Dave Sharpe (of The Alarm) at some local alternative cabaret last year. He was quite good but his songs appear to be written with the aid of an American road atlas.
“Tombstone, Tallahassee, Utah, Pensacola yadda yadda yadaa…”
At the end of the set he said that there were CDs available to buy at the back and he could do with the money to help pay for his gas. I thought that he was having trouble with his heating bills but then he went on to say that he had to drive to London straight afterwards.
All very rock and roll
The good bits of simple minds are everything up to and including Street Fighting Years, esp; I travel,New Gold Dream,Someone Somewhere in Summertime.
I think it's nice that everyone has different tastes.
Me too, that's why we post on forums.
Empires & Dance wasn't a bad album for the time. Constantinople Line, Twist/Run/Repulsion & I Travel were pretty good. (Simple Minds that is)
pee on my parade why dontcha 😐
😀 Well, if you make these things public...
I saw him at the Market Tavern, in Kidderminster. Was pretty good and stayed around to chat and sign autographs for those so inclined, if i recall correctly.
Market Tavern, gone the same way as the Duchess of York in Leeds. Even nostalgia's not as good as it was.
The guys a legend , if you can catch him with The Alarm on the now running Sound and Fury tour you will not be dissappointed.Seen him many a time and with Big Country, always takes me back to a great period growing up in the 80s.Good value tickets , what you waiting for.

That's more like well said. I've seen him a good number of times and what come across to me is his enjoyment and enthusiam for what he does; I think it's his eyes, really smiling if you know what I mean.
