Why, oh why does it have to be Chris Evans - I can't stand the bloke. Johnny Walker would have been much better.

Really cheesed off now!

I might start listening to Radio 2 in the morning now. Don't really get the obsession with the old geezer. I reckon Chris Moyles might lose listeners as a result

I guess its Radio Sleepy for you and your TOG buddies now then? Missing you already.

Whilst I have nothing against Wogan the breakfast show has gone very stale of late and Evans moving to the breakfast slot is just what it needs.

That is sad he was a great start to the day especially with the "janet and john" stories

But at least her is getting off when he is on top and not dragging along like a few otheres

Can anyone one here genuinely say they always know what on earth wogan is on about? I certainly don't and I quite enjoy the show.

when Evans was on Radio 1 I f--kin hated the bloke, but i have to admit since his return to radio 2 I like to tune in as often as possible. He will definately take some of moyles listeners.

I'm sad to see Wogan go, but I like Evans, certainly better than Moyles who I have given up on. R4 in our car at the moment though and R5 at home.

I suppose the only alternative would be Wonathan Woss.

terry wogan was really annoying. I listen to provincial radio in the mornings and radio 2 on the way home but I might swap over now.

Evans has matured a hell of a lot in recent years
I used to hate him when he was doing the Virgin & Radio1 breakfast shows but his tea-time R2 show has been OK

Evans is alright these days isn't he?

I really, really dislike Wogan. He's playing to a radically different audience at the mo' to most of Radio 2's output.

Don't know why it is that breakfast radio is obliged to be so aggravating though. I usually listen to Shaun Keaveny on 6 Music, who is very calm and doesn't talk constantly.

Wogan talked in riddles for an hour and a half. I could listen to the whole show and not understand a bloody word. Evans is great on the evening he should be good in the morning.

Sean Keavney is brilliant in the morning

Well I'll listen now - I can't be doing with Wogan. His time passed in 1985!

Would really have prefered Johnny Walker to take over (been a fan since his Radio Caroline days). Evans has got better so will see how he comes across.

Another vote for Shaun Keaveny on 6music here. The best advert for getting a digital radio, well him and Adam and Joe.

Don't mind Evans on Radio2 and pretty much anyone would be more listenable than Moyles.

Walker wouldn't do it though - he's in semi retirement these days

When my mum used to listen to Wogan and R2 we used to call it "radio suicide" Can't believe I am now even considering listening to R2.
I am officially now an old giffer, bah humbug.

I think with wogan you either hate him or love him!

Evans has matured and i'll give him a go, I'd rather listen to radio 2 than listen to all the crap advertisments you get on commercial stations?

I also wish they got rid of Sarah Kennedy .... she is well past it and out of time with the listeners these day I reckon.

6Music walks all over R1 & 2. Keaveney weekday mornings, Adam & Jo at the weekend.

I too would have preferred to see Johnny Walker take the slot, but I'm happy to see Chris Evans there. Only problem is that I don't really like Simon Mayo, but I suppose you can have everything.

Now, if only they'd get rid of Sarah Kennedy...

Did anyone else happen to hear Elaine Paige on 2 yesterday? She was completely off her tits on sherry and giggling uncontrollably. (I occasionally hear her, because the radio in my shed only really receives radio 2 and she is sometimes better than the sound of silence on a Sunday afternoon...)

Give me a nice morning discussion on Radio 4 any day.

I arrive at work feeling more intelligent and better informed, whereas if I listen to Raydeee-o Wun....

I'll miss Wogan - not a regular listener but I always think that he comes over as a decent chap who likes to look on the brighter side of the pretty dim world we live in.

I like Sarah Kennedy - again not a regular listener but when she's away you realise just how much better she is than the replacement (currently Alled Jones)

Cheers

I got a Pure Highway in-car DAB radio because of the choice of Moyles on R1 or doddery Wogan on R2 or depressing news on radio 4 in the morning. As for Evans I have no idea how he got two Sony awards for his housewife centric cheesy disco cr*p.
Shuan Keaveny on 6 music is brilliant - as was Phil Jupitus when he did that slot before.

The secret of the Wogan show is the quick wit and humour of the listeners.
Even though I am too young to be a TOG. I will miss the show and can't stand Chris Evans, even though I agree since he got married and had a baby he's matured a lot.

basically
13-16 radio 1
16-21 xfm
21-27 radio 1 again
27-40 radio 6
40+ radio 2

Might try Keavney. I got off the R6 weekday when bloody George Lamb arrived. Disasterous IMHO and I assumed this was style that they were now aiming at.

Wogan I thought had lost the plot. Bit full of himself and I was bored sick of his digs at the Beeb. We all knock our e
ployers but he's done VERY well out of the Corp over the years. Unproffesional.

I was dismayed when Evans took over from Johhny Walker but was very pleasantly surprised. I think he'll certInly make a reasonable if not excellent go of it.

I agree about George Lamb, awful, awful man. 🙂

Both 2 and 6 I think need some quite selective listening and a grasp of who is on when, otherwise either can be an absolute penance. But for the bits that I like (not, I think, particularly off-piste for a musically curious 30 year old white boy who doesn't dance!) they are fantastic if timed right.

I think I'd prefer the sound of silence to Elaine Page, if I'm honest. When I'm king, Show Tunes will be punishable with public flogging.

Radio 6 here, sadly listening mostly at the keyboard, so end up emailing Steve Lemaq's show quite a lot...sad.

The great thing about 6 music is that you can reliably get a mention on the radio almost immediately, because only about 200 people listen to it.

Evans, Moyles, Wright etc. all cut from the same shitty cloth.
I'll listen to my CDs in the morning thanks.

Evans is crap in the evening. Can't see him being better in the morning.
As for Sarah Kennedy, think we all agree there. Even worse is that Mo Dutter on Saturday/Sunday mornings, though he's been off for the past couple of weeks; blessed relief.

Like Wrighty though.

I was never a bit fan of Wogan but having listened in the car for the past few years I've warmed to him. It's a nice gentle way to start the day.

I listened to Chris Moyles once. Never again. He spoke about doing the washing up the night before for about 15 minutes. Then played what sounded like a couple of teenagers having a saucepan fight. And then talked about washing up again.

I must be too old.

I gave up on R1 when Zoe Ball left. Tried Moyles, just wanted to smash the radio. Used to listen to Jupitus when I could hear a radio, then he left and Lamb came on, and I wanted to smash the radio again. Can't say I like Keaveny much either. Lamb and Moyles should be put down for the good of humanity. Useless to$$ers, both of them. Laughed whe TimeOut called Moyles a 'talentless f*c* wit'. I'd like Gideon Coe to take over Wogan's slot, but I can't see that happening, sadly.

If you want a laugh, try tuning into James Whale on LBC 97.3

Example:

Three months(ish) ago, he did a weeks worth of shows in which he hated immigrants, then defended immigrants, then challenged immigrants, and finally hated immigrants. Ill-informed, illiterate bigot; always makes me smile thinking about what a dick he is...

George Lamb - Cock in a sock
Moyles, Evans, et al - bollosch
Keaveney - good to middling
Steven Merchant(?) - funny as foook!

Zoe Ball on Saturday breakfast before SOTS has been very good recently, but mainly 5 live on weekdays for me, just wish the BBC would send it out on FM too

6 music allday until adrian durham and ian wright come on at 4pm on talksport.
It's great to have Adam & Joe back too. Saturdays at work were no fun without them. Shame that Steven Merchant has left though.

As for Wogan, I have to admit, that the very few times I've listened to his show I do find it quite amusing.

Recently suffered radio2 for the first time for a whole week 9 to 5 couldn't be avoided, never again hopefully! The presenting style is BS and the repeated music every so often is a nightmare.

I honestly can't believe I've just seen someone recommend james whale, o m g!

I mostly gave up on radio 1 when they hired Janice Long the first time... then was loosing serious interest when they started messing Peel around until he passed away,I think I have not heard it since Peterson was stopped from having regular shows...

Finally readopting my old punk DIY ethics of youth, I now have my own broadcasting company..... iTrip on an iPod feeding the car radio.. in the house iTunes and AirTunes on the airport expresses means for the first time I get to listen to the many thousands of songs I spent more money on music in a month than many of you spend on bike bling in a year booming through my hifi, with last fm and record label mailing lists i dont even need buy a paper to discover new stuff...
