School staff are not allowed to meet in staff base with other adults at break/lunch idea is a meeting that is open and folk can drop in without invite or lobby assuming they are in the team. Is this possible?

I think you need an invite otherwise you don't have any way of knowing which meeting to join.

But create a meeting, invite everyone and then they can come and go as they please. People not in you domain probably have to wait in the lobby (anyone we invite who isn't in our company enters via the lobby).

And you can create one recurring meeting every weekday lunchtime which will have the same link, which some people may find easier.

As said, for Teams someone has to create a meeting, that will forward an email invite so that the 'room' exists and people have a link to follow.

If you literally want a 'room' that is available any time, https://meet.jit.si/ (Jitsi) is easy to use, available by browser, you just tell people the room name/url. But it is entirely unsecure. Anyone with the room name, or can guess the room name, can join.

Can I assume that if you have Teams then you have the rest of the corporate trappings like Office? You can schedule recurring Teams meetings within Outlook, it sends out a link folk can click on.

YEs, you can formward the TEAMS link, but set it to wait in lobby until accpeted. I think you may need a susbscription (one of the upgrades) one however to make that function work? You can also do it as a webinar with participation, this again will just provide a link but gives you more control.

(... also, why would you want to? You're on lunch / break, I'd want to get away from work not seek reasons not to. I'll never understand 'normal' people.)
