Well we're coming South West for a walking holiday tomorrow and staying just north of Tavistock.
So I'm after any recommendations for Real Ale Pubs in the area. By real ale I mean a small micro brewery that either sells direct to a couple of pubs or one that brews it's own and only sells it through their own pub.
Something like The Flower Pots in Cheriton, Hampshire or Bowman Ales in Wallops Wood, Hampshire or Upham Ales in.. Uphill, Hampshire. This kinda thing.
If anyone could recommend a decent Real Ale pub I'd be most grateful.
And we'll be gone before the Easter rush so we'll leave you all some beer to enjoy yourselves with.

Don't know of any 'micro-brewery' pubs round here. We aren't cool enough for that. still, you got Tavy Ales and Dartmoor Ales in most pubs round here.
Peter Tavy inn is nice.
Niiioce, thats a great start..
😀
Trout and Tipple. Just north of Tavistock on the A386 (road to Okehampton). Not sure its MicroBrewery, but certainly an historic CAMRA winner. (New owners tho)
Not been down for a while but always liked the Royal at Horsebridge and The Rising Sun at Gunnislake. I'm down for a couple of days this week so may have to reacquaint myself with them. Purely in the spirit of research you know.
The Royal! Love that pub. Almost my local when I'm at "home" aka the parents' place. Left for the bar, right for the lounge. Best enjoyed in summer when you can sit on the terraces overlooking the Tamar.
The Springer Spaniel in Treburley does very good food and has a few local ales.
I wouldn't recommend either of the pubs in Princetown as being particularly atmospheric but they do sell Dartmoor Brewery ales. You could also try the Warren House Inn if you like the sound of a diesel generator.
If you get nice weather I'd recommend the pub by the quayside in Calstock, that's a lovely spot for a pint (but I can't remember what they stock).
The Elephants Nest at Horndon used to be really good but I've not been there in a while. If you head east over the moor the Carpenters at Ilsington is also a nice pub.
Ohh excellent thanks guys..
Just loading the car for an early start !!
If you need recommendations for up here in Hampshire, just let me know...
Cheers
As Jam Bo, says, most pubs around here do a range of local brews - mainly Dartmoor Ales or Teignworthy. Rugglestone in Widecombe is worth a visit. If you get over this side of the moor, the Bridford Inn has a decent range of real ales normally. The Union Inn in Moretonhampstead has beer brewed by Red Rock. The Horse in Moreton is also starting to dabble in craft beers and is very good for food.
Well Guys many thanks for the recommendations, unfortunately we didn't venture East of the Moor but will put those recommendations into our diaries to try when we're that way.
Otherwise the Pubs we went to, Royal Inn, Springer Spaniel and Rising Sun were excellent indeed. Each and their own character and to be honest the Springer was used for the food which was superb. Both the Royal Inn and Rising Sun were excellent for Beers and super friendly locals...
So many thanks again, once again if you are over Hampshire way I have a few I could recommend.
Cheers 😀
Glad it went well! Will take you up on the recommendations later in the year.
