hehe this thread is fun 😀
i'll suggest it again, can all people with tattoos get their IQ tatood on their forehead...?? that way anyone with a low IQ can accurately be described as "knuckle-dragging-dumbass"
and everyone else can promt a:
"well i never, that's a jolly surprise, there i was making assumptions about that fine fellow over there and it turns out he's only 2 points away from a mensa membership, i bet he's a thouroughly nice chap, lets invite him around to polish our ponies and bentlys together and celebrate our obvious success in life due to not having tattoos.... oh hang on he's got tattoos, lets not let him round, he might scare the labradoodles" response.
phil - one of my tattoos actually says 'I heart labradoodles', so I'm on a winner there!

If you're the kind of boss who'd dismiss someone and ignore any talent they may have just because of how they look, then I'm bloody glad I don't work for you! What a tw*t! I thought the world had moved on since the 50s, but I guess not
Molgrips, you really are quite the idiot, aren't you. That's typical of the immature "how dare you judge me" attitude of most of the knobs that get tattoos!
I wouldn't employ anyone with visible tats because, like the majority of the public (yes, that's right, the majority) don't like them. And if someone is representing my business, to my clients, I don't want them displaying any outward signs that might put people off spending money with me.
It's the same reason I don't employ gingers, uglies, the old, fat or infirm. Fact.
Shibboleth - you really are an unpleasant individual arent you? For some reason, my 'report post' button isnt working, but I'll be up front and say I would have used it if I could. Here's hoping you get banned...
That's typical of the immature "how dare you judge me" attitude of most of the knobs that get tattoos!
I doubt if molgrips has any tats 🙂
It's good to see Shibboleth supports the Aryan race...
phil - one of my tattoos actually says 'I heart labradoodles', so I'm on a winner there!
I think we need a picture!
I got my tattoo when I split up from my first boyfriend. He'd always done the 'I don't like tattoos on women' thing, even though I really wanted one. I got Kain's clan symbol from Soul Reaver tattooed, so I can enjoy being both chavvy and nerdy at the same time! \o/
I'm glad I waited until I was older though, I really wanted a Metallica one when I was 15, just prior to them going shit. I would have had to get a second one underneath, in small text stating "When they were good".
b'mitch, dont worry, all his employees probably hate him 😀
Molgrips, you really are quite the idiot, aren't you.
No. And I don't have tats either.
And if someone is representing my business, to my clients
You didn't clarify your point with that.
I wouldn't employ anyone with visible tats because, like the majority of the public (yes, that's right, the majority) don't like them. And if someone is representing my business, to my clients, I don't want them displaying any outward signs that might put people off spending money with me.
Are you that fool with the printing business that got banned for being an utter pillock. Own business fascistic tendencies and simplistic arguments ...the hallmarks are striking.
I have yet to find an issue on which you can confidently claim to speak on behalf of the majority.
Your ginger etc bit was further indication of what an odious little cretin you are.
PS I dont care if people have tattos or not but I do expect to be able to laugh at bad ones and praise good ones.
Mrstoast - sorry to dissapoint you, but I just made it up. I have, however, got a sisters of mercy tattoo that could do with 'when they were good' adding to it 😉
Mrstoast - sorry to dissapoint you, but I just made it up.
Then I demand you get yourself to a tattoo parlour and get it done now!
I'm thinking about it, but you're demanding tone's scaring me a bit. In fact, when I first read your post, a little bit of wee came out.
Shibboleth, what do you sell, pointy white hats, nooses and firelighters?
don't do it, if u do, u may as well have the word 'rough' inked on

Bollocks, you've clearly not talked to many of the tattoo'd community, most of us are a lot nicer than the judgemental goons give us credit for.

Surely employing people with visible tattoo's would suggest that the company is a bit more relaxed and open minded to various elements of society? As long as it's nothing offensive, I don't see why there should be a problem.
Your ginger etc bit was further indication of what an odious little cretin you are
I didn't comment on that as I thought it must be a joke...
Are you lot still arguing over this?!!!!!
apparently so Hora ! 😉 thread will be posted off soon into the outa stratosphere but just b4 it does : go on then show me your 'LIZARD/GHECKO TATS' then i want to see pics....
i guess there will be blank pages next then cos 'all you lot' haven't defaced your skin with ink yet ! you orrible lot wot ! 😉
i dare you to post your pics last roll call !!!!!!!!
People without tattoos will never 'get it'. That's not a dig - it's just a fact. A lot of people I know want one. They've just never found the right thing or had the commitment to actually do it.
My wife has a small 'Violator' rose (Depeche Mode) on her upper arm. A woman she works with had said she could never understand why anybody could do that to their body - this was two weeks before the same 50 year old woman was going for a boob job - each to their own.
I have seven in total. A chinese dragon on my shoulder, a celtic design on my upper left arm, my kids names on my inner biceps, my name on the right of my stomach just above my belt, my wifes name on the opposite side and the word 'forever' relating to the names on my stomach just below my belt line on the small of my back. I don't regret any of them and I don't care what anybody else thinks about them. They are all personal to me, and unless I take my shirt off you'd never even know they were there.
If you really want it, go for it. Don't let anybody else sway your decision. It's a personal thing. You've thought about it. I got to the point where I was thinking about it every day for about six months - I knew then that it was something I needed to do.
Shibboleth, you really are an idiot...
Im thinking of getting a tat myself at the moment, either a tree or an acorn, but I need to find a decent design first, alot of my friends have them, and the only one who regrets it got the name of a ex gf..,,
Go for it if you want it...
.......It's the same reason I don't employ gingers, uglies, the old, fat or infirm. Fact.
Did you intentionally miss out black, lesbian/gay and disabled too, or are you so money oreintated that you thought going the whole hog might get you into trouble with 'Equal Opportunities', which may in turn lead to the only thing which would matter to you ie. a fine for effectively being an odious ignorant turd?
You lot really do have staying power. I doff my cap to you all!

I apologise Molgrips, you're obviously not as stupid as I first thought. Junkyard, on the other hand, is.

You just need the barbed wire, some Chinese caligraphy and a few stars and you'll have ticked every box! A walking history of passing tattoo fads!
****t
I have a thirteen inch ruler tattoo somewhere on my body 😉
You just need the barbed wire, some Chinese caligraphy and a few stars and you'll have ticked every box! A walking history of passing tattoo fads!
You missed a few. A swallow for my neck, a celtic band on my arm, a naked bird in a champagne glass, 'love/hate' on my knuckles, a spider web on my elbow, 'cut here' on my neck and a barcode on my head.
None of them were fads. The first two mean a lot me as they remind me of time spent with a good friend, who has since passed away. He was with me for the first one, and we both decided on the next (he chose one too) a week before he died. It seemed fitting to go through with it. The rest are my commitment to my family.
most of us are a lot nicer than the judgemental goons give us credit for.
nice but dim ??

did you read the title of the thread ?
my name on the right of my stomach just above my belt
because that's so easy to forget, or so, when your corpse is washed up on a beach, people know who you were ?
You just need the barbed wire, some Chinese caligraphy and a few stars and you'll have ticked every box! A walking history of passing tattoo fads!
I was going to risk guessing the year he had them! There would have to be something down the inside of his arm to really hit all the cliches.
Some people with tattoos think there is something to 'get'. There isn't.
Surely employing people with visible tattoo's would suggest that the company is a bit more relaxed and open minded to various elements of society? As long as it's nothing offensive, I don't see why there should be a problem.
Wake up and smell the coffee, princess. Some business is still carried out by people wearing suits with fairly conservative attitudes - especially the older generations. Relaxed and open minded? Stick with the media darlings. Whether you like social norms or not, they exist.
Shibboleth - have you thought about getting a large fishing rod tattoo somewhere? You are very good.
The rest are my commitment to my family
lol
my name on the right of my stomach just above my beltbecause that's so easy to forget, or so, when your corpse is washed up on a beach, people know who you were ?
No - I didn't include my surname. Perhaps I could include my phone number and email address next time, just in case the worst happens.
I have a thirteen inch ruler tattoo somewhere on my body
I have a Giant American Bald eagle with his claws holding my nuts. Its scary as **** 😀
why do people who do not want to do something so upset about others doing it? Seriously what harm or business is it of yours if someone has tats

Sexism, conservatism and patronising stupidity seems to be the norm in your peer group
I'm thinking about it, but your demanding tone's scaring me a bit. In fact, when I first read your post, a little bit of wee came out.
Less excuses, more labradoodle tattoos!
how accurate is a good tattooist? could they get the barcode right for something like a bottle of Irn Bru or a multipack of quavers? could i scan myself in tescos?
can't see any anti-tat people getting 'upset', rather just expressing the view that it's stupid and not for them
Right then, I'll get me crayons and start working on a design now.
elaine anne, if your not busy on 24th, 25th 26th of sept you should go to the london tattoo convention, its a great day out and if you look on the website you will see that most of the best artists in the world are there, you may be able to book an appointment with a top artist, i collect tattoos so go to most conventions and have done since 1981.
How do you collect tattoos? Is it like the killer in Silence of the Lambs where you steal peoples' skin? 😯
If you do get a tattoo elaine, don't create a STW thread asking for people to do the design... 😆
Is it always like this on a Monday?
Monday, summer, bored, raining...
Could also be put forward for those with strong views against tattoo's.simonfbarnes - Member

And things change. Tattoo's get a better reception in society now than they did only a few decades ago, and are starting to be seen more in workplaces. It's only a matter of time.
Could also be put forward for those with strong views against tattoo's.
which I don't have, just high standards 🙂
Lol, again, a matter of opinion.
why do people who do not want to do something so upset about others doing it? Seriously what harm or business is it of yours if someone has tats
In fairness the OP asked what people thought.
Whether you agree with other peoples opinions is neither here nor there really.
It's a personal thing
what having a celtic band/chinese symbol just like everyone else?
what about some barbed wire to symbolise your struggle against conformity?
a matter of opinion.
of course, and I never suggested otherwise!
my md always wears a long sleeved shirt, even in the hotest weather.
never seen him in a short sleeved polo shirt like the rest of us wear.
he is based at the head office in notts, so i see him maybe twice a month.
last month we all went bowling..............he had a t shirt on, and two full arm pieces, ending just shy of where a watch sits.
very nice art work too.
this bloke owns 3 companies.........1 of which has four branches nationwide.
i think tatoos are very acceptable nowadays, in any walk of life.
what having a celtic band/chinese symbol just like everyone else?
You're getting crap tramp stamps mixed up with quality body art.
Easy mistake for a brainless square to make 🙂

I might be missing something blindingly obvious here Ton, but why does he cover them up for work???
mate, i was not arguing the fact, meerly saying........... 8)
Easy mistake for a brainless square to make
like forgetting your own name? or the name of your wife and children? 🙂
I love the way people get tattoo's just to be different so they end up looking like the rest of their social group generally.
I'd want to be judged on something a like my behaviour or life skills than following a blind trend.
Not for me im afraid, but each to their own.
Oh and whats the deal with people stretching their earlobes over these ring things?
That'll look really good when your earlobe loses its elasticity and stretches down to their shoulders.
They're called flesh tunnels, and no, I dont get it either, but then again, each to their own.
ton - Member
mate, i was not arguing the fact, meerly saying....
Not arguing either Ton, but I think that proves my point to a certain extent. I doubt your boss would have been as successful if he'd ben the type to flaunt his tattoos in front of clients and business associates.
Are people going to be offended if I point out that I wouldn't employ anyone stoopid enough to stretch their ear lobes???
Shibboleth
you sound like a right cock............ 8)
Are people going to be offended if I point out that I wouldn't employ anyone stoopid enough to stretch their ear lobes???
Dunno, they might be quite useful for changing room attendants
ton...have you got any?
It's even more notable that he covers them up when you consider he owns the company.
aww, AdamG, are you having a slow day?
dd, what do you think??
"I wouldn't employ anyone stoopid enough to stretch their ear lobes???"
I'm not sure why I'm bothering, but here goes. Your opinion of tattoos / piercings etc, is just that, your opinion, and of course you're entitled to it. It's the fact that you insist on referring to people as 'stupid' for not sharing those opinions that p***es me off.
Are people going to be offended if I point out that I wouldn't employ anyone stoopid enough to stretch their ear lobes???
Yes. Because if you think you know if someone's stupid by looking at their ears that makes you pretty damn stupid.
It's only a cultural convention. People are allowed to stick small pins in their ears, let their hair grow long, expose a lot of leg (but only if you are a woman) or let hair grow all over your chin. You are apparently NOT allowed to stick big pins in your ears or draw on your arms, and if you do it means you're stupid.
Right, that makes a lot of sense.
I might be missing something blindingly obvious here Ton, but why does he cover them up for work???
You were going on about how stupid people were for getting them in the first place. Presumably he's covering them up whilst at work to avoid the unfounded sneering disdain of idiots like you.
I dunno how the shape of your earlobes or the markings on your skin should stop you from being capable of anything really. I suspect AdamG has some sort of brain piercing though.
expose a lot of leg (but only if you are a woman)
ahem.
Because if you think you know if someone's stupid by looking at their ears that makes you pretty damn stupid
"apt to jump to inaccurate conclusions" isn't the same as stupid...
ton...you've got one of the letters "dd" haven't you? 🙂
lol from Tats to stretched earlobes ...next !

One man's genius is another man's stoopid. Deciding whether or not I think they're stoopid is my opinion, and as you so kindly pointed out, I'm entitled to my opinion.
Personally, I think anyone that would disfigure themselves with hackneyed clipart, or mutilate their own ears is completely stoopid.
As a businessman, I have to make my business appeal to the widest possible sector of society. I would never lose business becasue a staff member is tattooed or disfigured, but I might if a client took a dislike to the way a member of staff looked.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where first impressions count for a lot, and wher society effectively votes with its feet.
And long may it continue. As long as people judge in this way, there will be opportunities for people disciplined enough to play the game.

now im even happier i have my tattoo

david brent couldnt have said it better!

I don't understand what that even means 🙁 Is it about volleyball ?
thort
why not spend the money on some spelling lessons?
as for tattoos turning business away, totally depends on what business you are on about. I have a lot of friends who have tattoos on show and it makes not one jot of difference. personally I'd prefer not to deal with people who have these prejudices but that's not always possible.
I am however looking to get my tattoo removed. it was a bad idea when I was 17 but I'd happily get another now that i'm (slightly) more mature
why not spend the money on some spelling lessons?
is there anywhere they make you pay for spelling lessons ?
personally I'd prefer not to deal with people who have these prejudices but that's not always possible
how do you identify a tattoo discriminator ?
I am however looking to get my tattoo removed
I hope you're boycotting yourself ?
Ah I see who Elaine is now, tattoos and stuff.
Shibboleth -yes but you work in professional environment where people would not be seen with a tattoo.
If you were a manager of a warehouse or Garage then you wouldn't care.
And ppl from STW are from Upper class-probably not... middle class to no class so you can't expect to say tatoos are 5hit as you will offend others but you do have a point just be careful how it comes across like my 5hitty posts.
Tattoos? not for me but you lot go ahead and make sure its not on the knuckles...
I would never lose business becasue a staff member is tattooed or disfigured, but I might if a client took a dislike to the way a member of staff [s]looked[/s] behaved.
There, fixed that for you.
Personally, I think anyone that would disfigure themselves with hackneyed clipart, or mutilate their own ears is completely stoopid.
So, if i'm following this thread correctly....
If someone works for, oh i dont know lets say BAE or even a bike manufacturer and has tattoos then technically they are too stupid to do their jobs?? And we should not fly on a plane or ride a bike again since some tattooed buffoon has been involved and doomed us all.
Its ok not to like tattoos, no problem with that at all. But to call someone stupid for having them is snobbish, judgemental and narrow minded. Poor you.
