Ended up fitting new innards via tap "revival kits" from tool station earlier to my bath and basin as they were a bit of a state. Bath ones went in fine but for some reason the basin ones would not shut off the water after being opened once.

Turns out the new inserts run out of travel and the piston comes out of the hex bit. I ended up fitting a fibre washer to space out the way washer which did the trick but am wondering if there is a proper solution, or should I have just braved the traffic to bedminster and gone to screwfix for better ones?

I thought Bedminster was in The Archers?

Seriously though, it looks as if nobody understands your question. ry asking on DIYnot.com

I had exactly the same issue when I fitted mine several years ago...
It turns out taps have more 'standards' than headsets do!

I spaced mine off with stainless washers, although I'm looking to replace mine again as the new missus and her daughter can't shut off the cold properly with the lever tops I fitted.
