I’m looking for some free or very cheap video editing software – I’m a big fan of open source software – I’ve tried to windows movie maker (the one that comes with visit) and I’m not over impressed with it, especially in terms of save options and some lose of detail in uploading to the interweb.
Basically I’m looking for something to download from the camera – play around with it add in titles, and transition effects and save it to the hard drive, disk, internet etc

Maybe you need to play with the settings on movie maker a bit more. Output quality seems fine to me although the default settings aren't brilliant.
This might be the thing: [url= http://www.trakax.com/ ]Traxax[/url] . It looks a bit like Sony Vegas (it's been a while since I've used that or this - prefer Premiere now). It used to be free but it isn't now. Very cheap though and a free trial for a month if you just want it for a short project.
