...is it a useful business tool, Facebook for middle-managers or simply a waste of time?
I found it useful when looking for work and looking for people to work for me. I don't use it otherwise.
as with any tool, it depends on how you use it, and what you want you are expecting to do with it.
i'm using it quite a bit for job hunting. Either looking up peoples CVs at places i've got an interview so i know what to brush up on, or searching for companies that might have jobs.
Not used it for anything else really.
It's good - until your network includes someone who uses it like Facebook and/or promotes their products or services through it. For me it's mainly just a phonebook slash contact directory which updates itself.
At the moment, it would be a means making contact with a view to roping in work..... perhaps moving to a 'seeing what's out there' role in the job market in the future..... 😉
