I'm just going out for 30 minutes to get a Tali, but before I go...
Should I ditch my expensive but otherwise great Virgin BB, phone and TV service and go for the Talk Talk Essentials package, which seems like a steal?
Monthly saving: £20.
We'll lose the telly, but use iPlayer and You Tube on the laptop, instead.
Our Virgin BB service is smooth, like butter - will Talk Talk be as good?
I called TT earlier to sign up and spoke to a crudey salesman who claimed "Bristol is (like) really busy,(cos, like) there are loads of poeple (so) you'll have to pay a £15/month premium until the upgrade is complete".
OK.....
Sign up online doesn't have this con - but is the service any good?
*sorry if this post opens up old wounds*
No, because TalkTalk are bastards. But from the tone of your post, you know this. (-:
HTH.
*back from Tali binge*
OK, thanks. TT it isn't, then.
You've done the right thing. Good Tali?
(What's a Tali?)
No they're shit. I've switched back to my previous supplier after 8 days. I gave them the benefit of the doubt whilst the line sync'd. But I have such bad latency on the line and a connection speed of 1/4 of what I was previously getting.
The wireless hub they provide is a P.O.S too, no signal strength for wireless and constantly drops connections.
Steer well clear.
Oh,and their help desk are muppets too!
In-laws were put onto Tiscali by me a number of years ago when it was a good deal and used BT's ATM backbone. Talktalk bought them...
Recently I turned up and took a peek at the router - seeming to sync at 9Mb, which is a little odd, but hey-ho. Took a peek at samknows and discover they've done LLU in their exchange and it looks as if they've been moved onto it.
Throughput was 0.75Mb/s from an 'up to 8Mb' link; iPlayer won't work, youtube won't work unless cached.
Utter pants. If it were me I'd get out sharpish but they can't be bothered...
Cougar - I've no idea what a Tali is.
Just discovered I'm mis-spelling.
Should have said Thali. Nice simple Indian food.
