So, you fancy some mashed spuds for dinner and the shop only has large bags of the blighters, no loose ones (Edit for TJ, sorry!)

Do you;
A - Buy a large bag and find ways to use them up?
B - Open said bag and remove the small number of spuds you need to make the mash?

If you keep them in the dark they last quite a while. Buy the big bag and have roast pots every now and then

Invite some mates round for bangers and mash at the weekend with the leftovers. Mash lasts ages in the fridge, especially if you don't put the butter/milk in.

Try slicing them with garlic, herbs (rosemary), onion, olive oil in a big tray, stir, put in oven. Stir every 10 mins. lovely. Or try google for a billion other recipes.

B.

Then go and snap off the wasted mass of stalk that they've attached to the broccoli you want to eat with it.

I don't believe the supermarkets attach the stem to brocolli I think it grows that way.

I've noticed that Sainsburies value mushrooms do seem to include 50% mud these days.
