So off to Morzine next summer with the family (wife and 12yr old). Had a great time this summer so decided to drive out next year.
We have booked a week in Morzine but have another week free to go somewhere else either before or after. Does any one have some recommendations of where else to go please doesn't have to be bike related (but happy if it does) so anything like hiking or water sports.

Thanks

Chamonix? Short drive from Morzine. Some of the nicest scenery in the Alps, endless hiking trails, bouldering rock things, rafting in the river etc. Bloody expensive though.

We stayed on a campsite called Camping de la Mer de Glace and they gave us a buss pass so we could pop into town and back but it was a nice stroll through the woods to get there.

If you're not wanting to travel too much further than Morzine then Samoens and Thonon les Bains have both been good places for family hols for us. Otherwise head south as jamj suggests - there's tons of possibilities between the Alps and the Med!

We had a week (or just over) of touring and a week in morzine a few years back. Fantastic trip. Took in pont du gard, Carcassonne, the Pyrenees, and a bit of Atlantic coast. Pretty easy driving, easy to find places to stay, great scenery, interesting history, a little bit of biking too.

Chamonix Valley - I would say Les Heuches is a nice base

If heading to Nice area then Juan-les-Pins/Antibes and use the train service along the coast to visit different towns each day - you can get to Monaco/Italy easily and cheaply on the train

We’ve done Disneyland, Brugge and Amsterdam on the way back - not in the same trip.
This year we did Challons-en-Champagne and the French WW1 battlefields on the way back which was thought provoking for our 13 year old as we drove past cemetery after cemetery.

I like the quieter areas not far from Nice.  You can get things like water parks - Aqualand etc and also some lovely beaches either quiet or lively as you prefer.
