Can i get some thoughts on mixed nuts and raisins as a snack?

Not necessarily totally bad 1. depends on the size of the portion, a small handful will be fine (although the raisins are especially sugar dense), tipping the whole packet into your gawping maw, less so. 2. still better than chocolate, 3. but better still would be have a good breakfast, and try either drinking water when you're hungry, or as jonv points out, try something without sugar; like protein.

Not convinced the "mediterranean diet" is working for me.

Spanish eating schedule = massive dinner late at night ?

No - where we are they only eat a small meal at night. The big meal is late afternoon. My problem is with the other 5 meals a day!

Not to be a special snowflake, but did anyone else not get the email?

Edit: Found it in Gmail's spam folder. Guessing the Chub Club got it rerouted.

More Chins than a Chinese phonebook in that spreadsheet! But not for much longer let's hope...

Mine was also in the spam folder for some reason.

What time of day are people weighing themselves. Pre-turbo I weighed myself last night and was 1.5kg lighter than after breakfast. I'm happy to take the weight loss but I guess I need to pick one time of day.

Did 30km of commuting on Tuesday, 45km of (hilly) commuting yesterday and have eaten under my calorie goal all week.

This mornings commute was very slow and steady!

I've even resisted the mountain of unwanted chocolate and shortbread that everyone brought into the office!

Doing well so for in 2017! ๐Ÿ™‚

Not sure about hitting the strava climbing challenge this month though, I'm sure it was 4500m last year, it's 7500m this year!

Yeah I saw that, and thought they had gone too far for this time of year.

I'm going to try to put some rides in in Zwift on the mountain route. The weather here is variable but not in any sort of good way. It's around zero today but slush all over the roads. Tomorrow it's going to be -7 with frozen slush. Maybe I'll try the MTB tomorrow.

Weighing? Get up, have a pee, get on scales. Basically it's the one time of day least likely to be affected by other factors like eating or exercise.

Doesn't really matter when you weigh yourself, just as long as it's the same every week. Likewise with using the same day, hence why i like to do it friday am before any weekend excesses* - even then I see that it wouldn't matter if I chose Monday morning instead as long as it was always Monday morning - the difference is what matters (but i still prefer Friday because the absolute will also be smaller)

* not that my excesses are vast, but I'm 5:2ing this which means 2 fast days (M or Tu and W or Th usually depending on my work and travel schedule), staying as good as I can be on non-fast days (clean eating where poss, trying to manage to about 2200cals/day, trying to get a couple of proper exercise sessions in as well) and then Sat/Sun still being good but if we're going out with the family to eat then we're going to enjoy it.

I also like Fridays for the purposes of running chubclub because I then have the w/end to do the updates. So - it's Fridays for you lot as well.

I also caught up on the TV diet / eating program yesterday and one other (simple, but obvious) change I'm making is I'm going to chew my food more. I counted chews last night eating 'normally' and it's usually 10 or so and swallow. I really choz it down. 35 chews seems excessive, but increasing to 25 seemed to be achievable and it gives my gut chance to feel full at the same rate as it is filling as opposed to continuing to shovel stuff in and then the full feeling catching up.

Yeah, I need to eat more slowly/chew more too. This should also lead to a reduction in burpage/fartage, which will have the added benefit of reducing the whinging from MrsIHN.

Really impressed to see the enthusiasm and commitment here...best of luck to all of you. I'm a few pounds over racing weight myself but don't feel the need to join in, it will come off easily enough now christmas is over and I'm training again properly.

I've got some good motivation to keep me on track, my brother was my size around 18 months ago but now he's a proper racing snake (I think he's under 12 stone now, and about 6ft tall).

He's got an FTP of around 350, came 7th in the last kielder 101 (!!) and has just started with a proper coach.

I'll get severe abuse from him if I fail! Plus he's really supportive, even gave me a better garmin than the one I had.

It'll be nice to do some epic rides with him again, at the min on our 2/3 hours rides he gets bored and I'm struggling by the end.

My other goal for this year is to do a 100km ride. Been about 8 years since I've done that...

Well I just walked in to our absolutely brilliant local bakery and when faced with rows of delicious pies, pasties and sausage rolls, purchased a tuna salad roll/bap/barm/whatevs

It was really nice too

I haven't had a single packet of crisps this year

I don't know who I am any more ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Apparently Kate Moss once said "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"

I can only assume she's never tasted a good lamb tikka jalfrezi, pilau rice, stuffed paratha, couple of poppadoms and a selection of pickles.

That and 60 Marlboro reds a day will have prevented the unbridled and truly life-affirming joy of the 3am donner kebab with everything on

On balance I think I'm winning ๐Ÿ™‚

IHN Kate has a special routine, a friend of a friend was once hired to do catering at weekend house party she hosted. They ate nothing and she tried to leave without paying for the food. Allegedly.

So far I am going in the wrong direction ๐Ÿ˜

And I'm in the wrong business!

A catering business where you only have to display the food so it looks nice, but nobody eats it, so you get to scoff yourself silly AND get paid for the privilege!

Apparently Kate Moss once said "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels"

That's the same as people who say that sex "isn't all that"... They're doing it wrong!

I can only assume she's never tasted a good lamb tikka jalfrezi, pilau rice, stuffed paratha, couple of poppadoms and a selection of pickles.

Close, but I reckon the Indian down the road from my GF's flat wins... Can't remember the name of it, but they do a Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi main in a thick lamb mince sauce, and I have a side of Bombay Aloo too. Mixed together it's EXACTLY how you might imagine a spicy Shepherds pie with some chicken tikka chunks thrown in for good measure!

All after a few popadoms, lashings of onion salad (there was a thread all about how to brew the most rancid farts a few months ago, it's a winner trust me!), a stuffed pepper (hey, gotta get some veg in there somewhere eh!) and all washed down with a few pints of Cider... Don't normally stop for dessert, normally got a couple of Cornetto's or (even better) a Vienetta in the fridge waiting for when we get back!

Anyone else surprised I'm only 13st5?!?! I'm beginning to wonder how I manage... ๐Ÿ˜ณ

had a minor wobble today and ate some sweets that are hanging around that I have avoided the rest of this week, but today was a more physical day than usual in work so hopefully balances out!

Should have a new battery for my light delivered tomorrow as well so I can start riding to work on monday. Not weighed at very consistent times of day to be accurate so far but looks like a few pounds have gone ( I hope)
