Anyone interested in a jam. I've knocked up a backing track...>Download me
Stratobiker's last blues collaboration worked a treat, so just wondering if anyone's interested in another.
Would just need an audio file of your part and one of it combined with the backing for syncing purposes.
My preference would be for audio only, but open for discussion.

Hi there, nice to be with you, happy you could stick around.
Like to introduce "Legs" Larry Smith, drums,
And Sam Spoons, rhythm pole,
And Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, bass guitar,
And Neil Innes, piano,
Come in Rodney Slater on the saxophone,
With Roger Ruskin Spear on tenor sax,
Hi, Vivian Stanshall, trumpet.

Big hello to big John Wayne, xylophone,
And Robert Morley, guitar,
Billy Butlin, spoons,
And looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes... Nnnnice!

Princess Anne on sousaphone... Mmmm,
Introducing Liberace, clarinet,
With Garner "Ted" Armstrong on vocals,
Lord Snooty and his pals, tap dancing,
In the groove with Harold Wilson, violin,
And Franklin McCormack on harmonica.

Over there, Eric Clapton, ukulele.... Hi Eric!
On my left Sir Kenneth Clark, bass sax.... A great honour, sir.
And specially flown in for us, a session's gorilla on vox humana.
Nice to see Incredible Shrinking Man on euphonium,
Drop out with Peter Scott on duck call,
Hearing from you later Casanova, on horn,
Yeah! Digging General de Gaulle on accordion....
Really wild, General! Thank you, sir.
Roy Rogers on Trigger.

Tune in Wild Man of Borneo on bongos.
Count Basie Orchestra on triangle.... Thank you.
Great to hear the Rawlinsons on trombone,
Back from his recent operation, Dan Druff, harp.
And representing the flower people, Quasimodo on bells.

Wonderful to hear Brainiac on banjo,
We welcome Val Doonican as himself (Hullo there)
Very appealing, Max Jaffa.... Mmm, that's nice, Max!
What a team, Zebra Kid and Horace Batchelor on percussion,
And a great favourite, and a wonderful performer, of all of us here, J. Arthur Rank on gong....

Hummerlicious, what style do you normally play?
Chipps, wail away that's cool.
Happy to get the full thing jammed and I'll pick, or your best 8 bars.
Really looking forward to hearing everyone.

Let's say I'm more metal than blues, unless you call Kirk Hammett a blues player. Not that I can play like him mind you, but that's where my 'style', such that it is, comes from. \m/

Well posted guitarhero, and thanks for hosting this one.
I have the excellent backing track downloaded already, and I'll spam/email a link to this thread to the guys from last time who I have an email address for.

Is there a deadline for submissions?

CG, you'll find the first one here.....
http://www.youtube.com/user/stratobiker#p/u/8/iRfJrklIRG0

You have to watch the credits at the end to find out who's who. It's not just guitars there's Sax and Keyboards too!

Nice Plum, but don't go changing. Are you gonna be able to supply me an isolated audio file of our part?

are there any perticular sections you need or just play the whole thing ?

**Ideally I would like 8 bars of JUST you playing, in a WAV file, or an mp3 at the highest bit rate you can. I'll also need an mp3 of that combined with the backing (or a you tube link), so I can sync and make it sound how you intended. It's OK to just play along with it all and send me that (again obviously JUST your guitar) but that will be more work for me to pick your best bit.
The order of the backing isn't cast in stone, it's just a rough to play along with. Depending on the response I may arrange it into more Verse Chorus etc format.
***

I recommend uploading your files here. There are no wait times for downloading and no need to sign up.

Sorry for long post but just wanted to make clear what I need

Due to my lack of gear currently the you tube clip is the only way I can get it to you, I tried to edit it so you could just drop into any video that results.

Hummerlicious, Is gtr1 the one you want used? If so do you have it with backing as well for reference?
I really like the stuff you're doing in gtr4, do you have that in isolation?

plumber, no vid this time. Audio only, sorry mate.

earl, mail me with a bit more detail, not sure what you're asking

GTR4 was my favourite, but least bluesy!! It should be synced up on the complete track. I just thought I'd give you the option of the others too.

4 it is then 🙂

gtr4 file should be it in isolation. If you want me to export it again let me know......

Plum,
Have you got some headphones?
If you could do a vid of the bit you want, then just a vid of the nylon guitar, I'll pull the guitar of the vid and convert it to mp3.

Think I'm pretty close, was working on something last night - just need to get a better take.

Is it any use if I simply lob backing track on one channel, guitar on t'other ? - that ought to be easy to separate I'd have thought.

I'm clearly missing something here! How do I get Audacity to record a stereo track without it recording the backing track onto it too? Every time I hit the record button it records the guitar I'm playing live, but also the backing track onto the new track. Help!

Hummerlicious, if you're still speaking to me, good to see another Paul Gilbert fan. Saw him live in Glasgow a couple of years ago. Wow, my jaw was badly bruised from continually hitting the floor. Did a cover of Hendrix's Red House. He tore the blues a new assh0le.

It's alright, I should have added a 😉

I saw Paul last year at the Concorde 2 in Bighton, I think he's great, amazingly fast picking.

Plumber, yes I love Neal Schon, told you I'd forgotten some. The last band I was in we did 6 Journey songs in the set!

Only got to do the first 66 bars, as I could not come up with any ideas to play over the changes, and the family are sat in the dark, as the low energy lights make my guitar buzz like mad ;-).

This has been good fun! Kudos to all the submissions so far, let's have lots more!

The geetar was a 335 into an Orange Tiny Terror, with the master volume on full, though a Marshall powerbrake and into an old Park 2x12.

I think the scale is Dorian mode, (you just play a major scale, but shift it two frets down, so if the song is in A, you play G major scale). Also probably added the 'blue' note (b5th) when required.

Aah, a bit of Dorian action, I struggle to steel myself off the Natural minor thing, despite my best efforts. I had to force myself to think about the blue note for this (if indeed I used it, I can't remember!).

Good stuff anyway 🙂

Does anyone know if there is a simple app on a iMac pro to record? I have Garage Band but it seems to be quite complicated and I've never used it before. ta!

TBH, from what I can gather, Garage Band is about as simple as it gets. It would be less hassle to watch some tutorial videos and read the manual than to try and find another application. All music applications have a learning curve, and Garage Band will be about as shallow as it gets.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would help you with this on the forum (i'll help as much as I can, but i've not used Garage Band)

Cheers,

simon - i used Garage band for mine. it is very easy

you can just drag the backing track MP3 from itunes into Garage band as one of the tracks

then use an additional track to record your guitar
