Anyone interested in a jam. I've knocked up a backing track...>Download me
Stratobiker's last blues collaboration worked a treat, so just wondering if anyone's interested in another.
Would just need an audio file of your part and one of it combined with the backing for syncing purposes.
My preference would be for audio only, but open for discussion.
go on, it'll be fun.
Did I miss the first one? (can't play, just love hearing guitars) 😀

Ten people have downloaded the backing, no takers? Is the backing that poop?
Should be able to do something later this week dude (will have to be with Guitar Rig though ;-()
Yeh i'll get on this tomorrow also.
Nice one guys. Looking forward to the results 🙂
Not my usual style of playing, but I'll give it a bash, can't get it sorted till the end of the week though. Should be a challenge!
Downloading now. Same as last time? ie Just wail over the top and you'll pick the best bits?
I'll try to get something done this week...
Hummerlicious, what style do you normally play?
Chipps, wail away that's cool.
Happy to get the full thing jammed and I'll pick, or your best 8 bars.
Really looking forward to hearing everyone.
Let's say I'm more metal than blues, unless you call Kirk Hammett a blues player. Not that I can play like him mind you, but that's where my 'style', such that it is, comes from. \m/
Well posted guitarhero, and thanks for hosting this one.
I have the excellent backing track downloaded already, and I'll spam/email a link to this thread to the guys from last time who I have an email address for.
Is there a deadline for submissions?
cinnamon_girl - Premier MemberDid I miss the first one? (can't play, just love hearing guitars)
CG, you'll find the first one here.....
http://www.youtube.com/user/stratobiker#p/u/8/iRfJrklIRG0
You have to watch the credits at the end to find out who's who. It's not just guitars there's Sax and Keyboards too!
SB
I'll work on it today!
Is there a deadline for submissions?
Noon, Monday 25th January.
Hi
i've downloaded the track
are there any perticular sections you need or just play the whole thing ?
i might have time to do a few bars of the slow bit
cheers Dave
I might have a crack at this some time this week
Trying to overcome my inate 'need' to over play - quasi blues/classical numptiness
Plum
Nice Plum, but don't go changing. Are you gonna be able to supply me an isolated audio file of our part?
are there any perticular sections you need or just play the whole thing ?
**Ideally I would like 8 bars of JUST you playing, in a WAV file, or an mp3 at the highest bit rate you can. I'll also need an mp3 of that combined with the backing (or a you tube link), so I can sync and make it sound how you intended. It's OK to just play along with it all and send me that (again obviously JUST your guitar) but that will be more work for me to pick your best bit.
The order of the backing isn't cast in stone, it's just a rough to play along with. Depending on the response I may arrange it into more Verse Chorus etc format.***
I recommend uploading your files here. There are no wait times for downloading and no need to sign up.
Sorry for long post but just wanted to make clear what I need
I downloaded it and was going to try some jews harp but I really need blues in Dm if that's ok?
Here's my effort, I've tried to be as sensible as possible!

GH,
Due to my lack of gear currently the you tube clip is the only way I can get it to you, I tried to edit it so you could just drop into any video that results.
Cheers like
Plum
fab idea guys, ive got my part recorded via minidisc mic, how the hell do i sysnc it with with back track? i dont have software by theway other than a dodgy mp3 line in convertor!
guitarhero,
I just sent you my bits by email.
earl_brutus
Get yourself a copy of Audacity - it's a free audio editing thingy.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
SB
Hummerlicious, Is gtr1 the one you want used? If so do you have it with backing as well for reference?
I really like the stuff you're doing in gtr4, do you have that in isolation?
plumber, no vid this time. Audio only, sorry mate.
earl, mail me with a bit more detail, not sure what you're asking
Simon, just for you
ok ive got audacity, got two tracks on there, mine and backing, how do i move my track say 2 secs to sync it with the backing, if i try cut an dpaste it always reverts to t+o rather than where the cursor is?
Earl, there's a tool on the tool bar, next to the transport, the one that looks like two arrows back to back.
GTR4 was my favourite, but least bluesy!! It should be synced up on the complete track. I just thought I'd give you the option of the others too.
4 it is then 🙂
gtr4 file should be it in isolation. If you want me to export it again let me know......
gtr 4 has the backing with it. Beam it on over in isolation. LOVE the trem stuff. Awesome work dude.
Cheers, it'll try and separate them tomorrow night then, riding tonight!
Plum,
Have you got some headphones?
If you could do a vid of the bit you want, then just a vid of the nylon guitar, I'll pull the guitar of the vid and convert it to mp3.
HTH
SB
ok, next job the files are about 60mb, hows best to send em over, (hotmail aint playin ball)
Will try and have a bash at this tomorrow. 🙂
Export as mp3 from audacity. Highest bitrate available
says I need some lane file or other to download before i can export mp3, any ideas?
earl, this'll sort you out
Can I just say that I've been enjoying listening? Looking forward to the finished product 8)
And of course I'm dead jealous I have no musical ability 😥
cinnamon_girl -
And of course I'm dead jealous I have no musical ability
CG - Tou shouldn't let that stand in your way. Get strummin'n'pickin girl! 🙂
>And of course I'm dead jealous I have no musical ability
Aha, drums for you, then 😉
I'll see if I can get something together over the next few evenings..
stratobiker/jond - I'll just stick to listening to my rock god of the moment (Joe Bonamassa) 8)
ok squire, my mp3s are mailed to you, thanks for the audacious help!
Two words EarlB..Awe some
That's earl_brutus and stratobiker in the can (so to speak)
C'mon everyone else, get on this over the weekend. Sounding great so far.
Bum, that went wrong, for some reason the backing track was also over the solo guitar tracks. I'll do it again tonight, although it'll probably be completely different!!
Think I'm pretty close, was working on something last night - just need to get a better take.
Is it any use if I simply lob backing track on one channel, guitar on t'other ? - that ought to be easy to separate I'd have thought.
jond, that should be fine.
I'm clearly missing something here! How do I get Audacity to record a stereo track without it recording the backing track onto it too? Every time I hit the record button it records the guitar I'm playing live, but also the backing track onto the new track. Help!
Hurrah, sussed it 🙂
Here's the complete track with my guitar:

Here's the guitar isolated:
solo only
Sorry if I put too many notes in, I tried to behave....
Hummer,
Holy shit you're worse than me! Tumeni Noats 😀
Plum
hummerlicious - that was pretty impressive, well done you!!
So, guys, who are YOUR guitar heroes then?
heres my effort
guitar only
with the backing track
Whats the tempo of the backing track?
6/8 80bpm
Thanks CG, I was holding back as much as I could honest!!
My heroes in no particular order:
Dave Gilmore
Jimi Hendrix
Kirk Hammett
James Hetfield
Dave Mustaine
Synyster Gates
Paul Gilbert
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
Eric Clapton (cream period)
Frank Zappa
Probably more, but it's too early to think!
Nice Greivoustim, perhaps I did put in a few notes 😉
Nice work fellas. Hummerlicious, don't worry about the too many notes thing, there's plenty of tasteful stuff already 😉
Ouch!
OOps, not meant that way at all. Not saying yours lacks taste, think it sounds ace.
What I really mean that the track will be better for different styles.
You musicians and your fragile egos 😉
Hummerlicious, if you're still speaking to me, good to see another Paul Gilbert fan. Saw him live in Glasgow a couple of years ago. Wow, my jaw was badly bruised from continually hitting the floor. Did a cover of Hendrix's Red House. He tore the blues a new assh0le.
Infuences rather than heros
Tim Pierce
Neal Schon
Eric Johnson
Plum
It's alright, I should have added a 😉
I saw Paul last year at the Concorde 2 in Bighton, I think he's great, amazingly fast picking.
Plumber, yes I love Neal Schon, told you I'd forgotten some. The last band I was in we did 6 Journey songs in the set!
OK I am seriously intimidated by all these good guitarists so to balance it out I've uploaded my piss poor efforts

Guitar only
Well, you've got to have a go haven't you, my excuse is punk rock.
Well I liked it DavidB, nice tone B-)
This has inspired me to dig out the 335!
Here's mine....

Only got to do the first 66 bars, as I could not come up with any ideas to play over the changes, and the family are sat in the dark, as the low energy lights make my guitar buzz like mad ;-).
This has been good fun! Kudos to all the submissions so far, let's have lots more!
Iodius
1. What guitar is that..
2 what scales you playing, other than minor pentatonic?
I was thinking that Earle, a few interesting note choices there, me like.
The geetar was a 335 into an Orange Tiny Terror, with the master volume on full, though a Marshall powerbrake and into an old Park 2x12.
I think the scale is Dorian mode, (you just play a major scale, but shift it two frets down, so if the song is in A, you play G major scale). Also probably added the 'blue' note (b5th) when required.
The geetar was a 335 into an Orange Tiny Terror, with the master volume on full, though a Marshall powerbrake and into an old Park 2x12.
Aah, a bit of Dorian action, I struggle to steel myself off the Natural minor thing, despite my best efforts. I had to force myself to think about the blue note for this (if indeed I used it, I can't remember!).
Good stuff anyway 🙂
Does anyone know if there is a simple app on a iMac pro to record? I have Garage Band but it seems to be quite complicated and I've never used it before. ta!
TBH, from what I can gather, Garage Band is about as simple as it gets. It would be less hassle to watch some tutorial videos and read the manual than to try and find another application. All music applications have a learning curve, and Garage Band will be about as shallow as it gets.
I'm sure there would be plenty of people who would help you with this on the forum (i'll help as much as I can, but i've not used Garage Band)
Cheers,
simon - i used Garage band for mine. it is very easy
you can just drag the backing track MP3 from itunes into Garage band as one of the tracks
then use an additional track to record your guitar
last call for submissions. Start piecing it all together tonight
I've got submissions from:
stratobiker
hummerlicious
grievoustim
lodius

DavidB
am I missing anyone?
Yup, me - many apologies, had a bit of faffing with mixed recording/mp3 yesterday (ie they shouldn't have been). A minor bit of cack-handedness remaining to fix when I get in and I'll upload/post here.
Nothin' from Chipps? 🙁
SB
I've uploaded it anyway, and you'll have to put yer fingers in yer ears 😉
http://www.datafilehost.com/download-3797288e.html
(I need to check what quality it's been exported with, it's default at the mo, whatever that is)
As mentioned, backing on one side, guitar on t'other. I'm in all evening so please post if there's a problem.
what key is it in please?
