He makes no attempt to avoind an obviously dangerous collision. Its reckless and a red card. Being a big dumb clumsy oaf is no defence.

Same as if he accidentally took a players legs away in the air, or lost control of a tackle and the tackled player lands on his head.
Equally, in my strop about Nick Williams last night - whether he intended to cause harm or not, he joined the maul in a dangerous way and caused head/neck injuries to a player. I don't see why any of these situations are treated differently.
The ball was grounded long enough for that collision to be avoided. He was quite happy to "accidentally" collide with North.
Red card....however ..had North not been knocked out would there have even been an issue?
IMO, there is an increasing trend toward gratuitous cheap hits after someone has scored, very often with the knee and this needs sorting out, however, this is not one of those incidents. That is a very poor red card IMO. Accidents happen and it did there.
Anyway best wishes to North. Nasty.
Accidents happen but that was an accident that could and should have been avoided, it is therefore reckless.
Very worrying, how frequently North is getting concussed.
It is worrying but he has been kicked and kneed in the head so it is not necessarily more than a bad run.
Have a look at this the irish tmo says its shoulder upper arm just wtf was he looking at? ****ing pro12 has joke officials.
I wass speaking to one of the Scotland team Drs this morning - he is of the opinion that George North should considering retiring after the number and type of hits he has had to the head this year.
Why? Has he assessed North? If nkt he should be professio al enough to keep his gob shut imo.
Not an unreasonable statement, given the number of concussions he has had this season and the increasing evidence on the long term effects of brain injuries.

How many concussions has he had this season?
Given evidence of the effects of concussion everyone should stop playing rugby ir any other contact sport.

Professionalism prevents him from answering that question.
How many concussions has he had this season?
I have no idea how many he has actualy had, but unless I'm mistaken he's had two high profile ones and one which was brushed off.
As for getting the concussions - maybe he should go for technique over muscle.
for getting the concussions - maybe he should go for technique over muscle.
You need to try harder princess
Did that involve concussion and was it in the last year? Very poor racid bait! Keep trying.
It involved muscle over technique and I would say that i undoubtedly involved concussion given the mechanism of injury.
Are you qualified in anyway to make such assumptions given you have only seen it on tv?
Yes I am qualified.
Any details. To asses concussion from your sofa. Pull the other one.
RFU Pitchside Immediate Trauma Care Course (PSITCC),
And that means you can state concussion has occurred to someone from your sofa? Must have been some course.
Yes it does actually - The diagnostic criteria for concussion in rugby start like this: Do you think the player may be concussed? Yes = they are concussed. It really is that simple.
Hmm, I see AA on the defensive because he fancies North almost as much as the Orange one, and some other people turning what is obviously coincidental bad luck on GN's part into some kind of criticism of his technique?
Just grow up all of you.
It seems to me that 3 or 4 concussions in as many weeks, is going to be something to be concerned about.
Surely we all hope he has future good health and continues to play, can we just leave it at that rather than getting all childish about it?
See, I am concerned about his future good health. I am concerned to the point that his future ability to play doesn't have any impact.
I agree that is a concern, given the evidence from the US on multiple concussions.
Concerned for Brown too - showing signs of concussion again after the France match.

Er....

I'm sure you are and he is seeing a consultant neurosurgeon asap and did after the incidents with Wales I would expect this person knows better than us whats best and also has a duty of care.
To suggest poor technique is responsible for being kicked in the head twice is idiotic trolling though.

Its that simple for pitch side best practise balancing probabilities and risk. Its not for actual diagnosis of extent. Every tackle and impact has concussive effects.
The Brown one is actually more worrying considering he played again and recieved no more major blows.
The fact that North has been sparked by obviously major blows is worrying but it would be much more worrying if he was been sparked by smaller impacts as started happening to Hape.
kid could do with a month or two off though.
Er....
It wasn't meant to be an insult, you can fancy whoever you want. Just do not let it cloud your judgement.

I was at some training the other week with a bloke called Tim Gill who was teaching us about risk/benefit assessments and safety issues for kids involved in organised play. It was actually really good stuff and full of common sense.
Anyway, one stat he pulled up about the number of kids attending a&e per hour of activity that illustrated how few kids got injured in playgrounds also showed - if you want your kids to go to a&e, rugby is by far the most effective method.
It certainly was for me. My mum reckons she picked me up from a&e more times than the club house!!
It wasn't meant to be an insult, you can fancy whoever you want. Just do not let it cloud your judgement.
So it was justva slightly homophobic dig then?
No precisely the opposite. In what way was it homophobic?
(Que AA"If I need to explain it you don't understand it")
Instead of being arsey you could actually see that in fact I was defending you, in that wanmankylung was obviously making the silly association between the concussion and technique.
It certainly was for me. My mum reckons she picked me up from a&e more times than the club house!!
That explains a thing or two, or three...
15s is a stupid game. Thankfully the 7s season is upon us and we can see some decent skill.

seemed like a childish your gay kind of a thing to say as far I can see.

Explains a lot

Aha, a softy ๐
seemed like a childish your gay kind of a thing to say as far I can see.
Are you just letting your own prejudice get in the way of what people are saying. It was more a reflection of your own one-eyed ness that we all know and love. It might have been bitchy, but certainly not homophobic.
Anyway I am glad that you finally accepted that some time away from the game might be a good thing for him.

Is he talking about the rugby eq of the only way is Essex?
Are you just letting your own prejudice get in the way of what people are saying.
No , I'm just mature enough to think that bringing somones sexuality up whilst mocking them is a bit low.
Or you just using it as a cheap shot to avoid the fact that you had been obviously opposing any idea that North should not be playing at the moment, not for his own good.
If we had been discussing tennis and I had mentioned how you were now shifting your attentions from Sarah Loosemore to Rebecca Llewellyn, I would be being heterophobic?
This is about your prejudice.
I am aware that you have some affinity to the Orange one, I have no idea of your actual orientation, and I frankly don't care. This is 2015, we are all free to have any kind of sexuality and it just is not a big deal which of those you are aligned with. If you make a big deal out of it, you are perputuating the prejudice.
Essentially by being insulted that I said you fancied North, you are saying "Gay? Who me? No not me? It is an insult to call me gay". That makes you homophobic.
Or if you are gay, then there is nothing to be insulted about, he is nice looking chap with a body to die for, and comes across as being rather charming.
So don't be pulling the homophobic card on me sunshine, you undermine equality if you don't use it properly.
Eitherway it is better to not let this cloud your judgement about what should happen on the rugby field.
In other news, did anyone attend the Tigers Chiefs game? I follwed the twitter and it seemed like a really good game. Gutted that we are down to 4th now. Got a hard run in from here.
Where did I say North should be playing?
You were the one who started throwing around the frankly laughably immature comments.
So pointing out that trying to mock someone by making comments about their sexuality is homophobic makes me homophobic?
Great logic.
almost as good as me saying the kid could do with a few months rest is me saying he should be playing...
I didnt make comments about your sexuality, you inferred that. I made comments about who you fancied clouding your judgement. Theirs and your gender is frankly irrelevent in this day and age. In fact I do not know your gender.
I give up. Obviously in your world you are right about everything. I hope its fun for you.
