This is health and safety related but may not appear so at first..

Anyone care to guess the delivery charge for a 500ml bottle of photographic developer..?

"The delivery for chemicals and pressurised gas is £21.05 due to a health and safety van being required by law"

What kind of precautions can this involve? we have litres of the stuff just sitting all over the place at school hehe

Tandem was pretty close

Is the cost £42.10 if they deliver it twice?

I'm pretty happy someone qualified has to transport that nasty stuff:

eg a 2 part colour developer is:

UN 1719 8 Caustic alkali liquid, n.o.s.

HAZMAT Class 8 = Corrosive Substance.

If you want dangerous chemicals delivered to your door, I want them moved safely.

Sounds a lot to me. We've had some very nasty stuff* delivered to work and it doesn't cost that much.

Conc. HF amongst other acids, plenty of Carcinogenic solvents the toxic and very toxic chemicals. Normally comes by DHL or TNT I think.

jonb- did someone inform the courier and did the packaging have the correct labeling? We've received stuff via TNT in a box with no haz labels and it contained some very cheeky stuff, but no-one told the poor bloomin delivery driver. If he'd have dropped the package or it had got broken in transit he would have been FUBAR.
