Good to see what makes the front page off the BBC isn't all doom:

I bet he had a right paddy.
"dangerously overweight" S'all the carbs innit.
Bet he knew he was in a pret-thai sticky situation when the police got him to Pilau-ver
I bet he had Vanilla Rice - rice, rice baby - thumping out the stereo...
I bet he got a clip round the ear from his naan.
(and that looks like my car when we go camping!)
His car springs have got a bit of a saag.
Ricists.
Can that car really not carry that weight? It's a hatchback type thing, so surely it can carry 800kg plus the driver?
We used to buy these 20kg bags of Basmati in Balham and take them round to my Nan's as she was too old and tiny to shift them. The bag would sit in the corner inside a plastoc bin. She loved it as it reminded her of her home in Bangalore.
Focus is about 400kg total occupant and cargo weight. The car he had can't be much more than that.
Is that all? Just that we've got more than 800kg into my neighbour's Berlingo, plus two people, and it's not much bigger than that vehicle.
lucky you dind't get stopped clodhopper... first two on this list are 400 and 600kg gross load (probably includes fuel too).

It was fine. It gets used to transport heavy loads all the time, and runs ok.
Errr, it isn't fine, that's why plod/vosa etc get a bit uppity about it.
It increases braking distances, makes suspension failure/blowouts more likely, alters handling and may cause structural failure in axles/chassis.
It's more about being actually safe in an emergency and legal to drive with that load rather than just 'fine' though?
Well, no-one died, so it was fine. 😆
it wasn't the mound of rice causing the hazard, it was all the tealights under the petrol tank trying to keep it warm.
Not the sort of junk in the trunk I was hoping for
So, how long do we reckon it will take before her needs to do another rice shop?
I make it just shy of 11,500 portions, which means I'd never have to buy rice again. Ever.
What's the use by date?
RICEIS later claimed responsibility.
Sorry.
