Why was it uninsured? Where was it stolen from?

Has he checked the ads for that type of vehicle, it is not unknown for these things to be stolen to order and passed on very quickly

He didn't realise it had lapsed and rang insurance company to report it only to be told it had run out 3 days prior.
I suggested renewing insurance, wait a few days and then report it but he had already reported to police and insurance thinking it was insured.

Did his insurance company not send out a renewal notice?

As above with mf. If I don't cancel my insurance policies, they automatically try to renew it

The law at the moment means that insurance compnies will renew automatically. Or did they try and couldn't get the payment?

Ouch! Was it taken from private land? Or was it on the public highway?

That's a bit of luck, at least he didn't end up making a false statement to police followed by an attempt to commit fraud.

Yes, because if there's one person in all of this that needs punishing, it's the guy who's had his truck stolen.

This thread reminded me to pay for my insurance which became due whilst I am on holiday and my car is sat at home on the drive. (Elepant Insurance tried to automatically renew but the card details were out of date).
