Trying to change tyres on stans crest rims, fitting rocket rons, the fit is insanely tight, I gave up last night, put it down to it being cold, using the stans yellow tape, but with tubes, clearly there's a trick, any ideas?

It comes up fairly often, try a search. Here's a good one for starters...

It does get easier with practice, at first I could barely get tyres on. Now with decent tyre levers, fairy liquid and pinching the beads as far as they can go into the centre if the rim its a pretty easy job.
What tyres you using? Spray ground controls and onza ibex pretty tight, on one chunky slacker than an inappropriate comment in comparison.

Maxxis Ikons seem to go on easily enough

I changed to Ikons and was able to put them on with my hands, so lesson learned

It really is down to technique. Bit of moisture on the beads... bit of technique. I sold a pair of 29er wheels as i couldn't get anything on them.... i now know, it wasn't the wheels/tyres fault but all my own.
