It's such a common shape these days (just look around you!), but I can't think what they're called š - and it's bugging me

It's actually a squircle, believe it or not. I think 'rounded square' is also valid.
in 3DSMax the 3d version is called a chamfered box.

A rectangle with rounded sides was known as quartic when BL brilliantly fitted it as a steering wheel to the Allaggro in '73.
