Is there a proper name for a square (or rectangle) with rounded corners?

It's such a common shape these days (just look around you!), but I can't think what they're called 😕 - and it's bugging me

It's a safety square. (-:

It's actually a squircle, believe it or not. I think 'rounded square' is also valid.

Ah, Wikipedia knows.

Apparently it's a special case of a superellipse.

And, it seems that a squircle and a rounded square aren't quite the same thing.

Squircle in black, rounded square in red.

Who knew.

Dunno about squircles & stuff but apparently the Bermuda Triangle used to be called The Bermuda Rectangle...
Until one of the sides mysteriously disappeared.

😆

Or is it as old as Mr Milligan? 🙂

Squircle ????

If it wasn't there in black and white in Wikipedia, I'd think you were winding me up 🙄

I don't know the answer, but this thread has the making of turning into a right old ding-dong, with the possibility of someone issuing threats of actual violence should they meet their adversary in Real Life™....

A rectangle with rounded sides was known as quartic when BL brilliantly fitted it as a steering wheel to the Allaggro in '73.

Ahem - "Allaggro" being a portmanteau of "Allegro" and "aggro", and ownership of one being "all aggro"...
