What a shame.

The chances of a new crossing there for active travel are slim to non existant.Â
There must be many of these old structures that are no longer taking vehicle traffic that are not well maintained.Â

"Moray Council, which manages the trail, said the bridge would remain closed until further notice."
Well, duh.

Oops missed that - I failed to decipher ther cryptic title.
If it's anything like LLanerch bridge, it will never get fixed.
It's quite a detour. When you see a 'road closed' sign and ignore it because you are on a bike, then realise you aren't getting over it !

This footbridge over the Thames looks like it will be 3yrs before they even start on a new design...
Beautiful Railway Bridge of the Silv’ry Spey!
Alas! I am very sorry to say....Â
In fairness, they did eventually replace the bridges between Keswick and Threlkeld that got taken out a few years ago.
Getting across that Spey gap just went to the top of the list for the 'Adventure' Biker YouTubers...Â
That letter really annoys me. The council can't afford to maintain infrastructure more because of the actions of ministers at Holyrood or Westminster than for any other reason. Mr Lochead doesn't understand cause and effect.
The council can't afford to maintain infrastructure
is the bridge council owned, if it's a listed structure the owner is liable for upkeep?
tis sad to see.
Just read this thread and @fossy has beaten me to Llanerch Bridge, that's just just up the road from my mum's place, relatively speaking! 🤣
If you come away from the bridge ruins on the north side, pass the turnoff on the left towards Waen and onto Dyserth, over the little (railway?) bridge...
From that dip to the end of the road in Tremeirchion, it never fails to blow my mind that you climb just over 265 feet at over 3% average (Strava cat 4)! Maybe it's because so many cat 3/4 hills local to there include steep ramps approaching ~20% or ~33% up Hillside.
