Sorry for another one of these, but struggling!

Basically, my contacts are properly messed up, and have been for a while. I have just moved from an Android phone to a 4S, so it would be a good time to get them fixed up (plus they've got even more disorganised with switching to iOS).

Basically, I have a bunch of contacts on my Gmail account. However, the majority of the names are, for some reason, formatted like ";John, Smith", which really screws with the contacts list.

I have some contacts on my old phone, which I exported to the micro SD card. However I just imported this to my Gmail contacts and nothing changed.

I also want to have my contacts from Facebook in my contacts, however if I already have them in my gmail contacts, to merge the contact. And if they have a different facebook name, have the option to manually merge them.

On my 4s now, I have lots of contacts, but very very few even have phone numbers (all of the gmail ones I've checked so far, but they dfefinitely have numbers when I go onto gmail).

Does any of the above make sense? Is it possible? I don't mind putting some effort in (ie not expecting an app to sort it all with one click) if it means I get it sorted once and for all, just don't want to start renaming all my contacts or something if it doesn't help.

Thanks, Duane.

iOS 6 if that makes any difference.

Also just realised all the Facebook contacts added to my phone don't have phone numbers with them, even though a lot have them listed on FB.

Can't help with FB contacts but if I were you I'd start again and export the gmail contacts on a pc/mac, open the csv file in excel or similar and get everything in the right order, delete everyone from gmail and then import your new csv file.
Did you use the right method to sync gmail with your phone?

Right thanks. Yeah that is how I imported them.

Will start again, get everything sorted out and then import back to Gmail/phone.

Anyone have any ideas with facebook? Anyone else have problems importing facebook contacts to iPhone?

How come when I'm on Gmail, it says I have 500 odd contacts, yet when I export the .csv file, there's over 1000? Does it unmerged previously merged contacts?

I gave up on it, after ending up with loads of duplicates etc.

So you don't have any numbers?

It seemed to just duplicate everything, numbers inc. some contacts ended up with 3 entries

In the end, I gave my lad a tenner to manually put them all in, much less stressful [for me] 🙂

Just realised none of the contacts imported from gmail have phone numbers, so I only have a couple numbers on my phone (ones I manually entered recently).
I'm guessing the iPhone didn't like the imported .csv file or something...
