OK only just a few days ago I posted asking what 32" TV...

Well Mrs FD has come up with another plan 🙄
She now wants to put our old 32" Sony circa 2008 in the bedroom and get a bigger TV for the lounge. The Sony at the time was a top notch set. Are more recent TV's noticebly better?

So yesterday went to Comet just to get ideas.. The one she liked was a Panasonic at £600, but she doesn't want to pay that much! It was LCD?LED model

However you can get a Plasma for £500

Are Plasmas still better than LCD's at this size, which should we go for (obviously will shop around for best price) Is it worth paying more for Panasonic. I looked at a Samsung LCD/LED that was £400 100m/hz but had few ports on the back..
Ta
I've just bought a Sony Bravia HX72 40" 400hz tv, picture is absolutely stunning. Was on offer in the Sony shop for £699 reduced from £1299. I'd highly recommend it.
I am sorry?
Since when does the female get to have a say in the choice of television?
Next you'll be telling us you help with the washing up.
I've got a Panasonic plasma and its fine. I brought mine from John Lewis though as they give you a 5 year warranty as standard.
following this thread,
any of these 40" flat screen tv's got a picture as good as my old sony CRT?
Watched friends 42" job at weekend and picture was jerky and blocky and a bit shit. don't want to spend money to be disappointed.

Since I'm not even that borthered about having another one, but if she's going to spend the cash I don't want it to be rubbish.
I got one of these last week and i'm very happy with it!
Yet to hook the HDMI xbox up to it yet but the freeview TV tuner is a bit of a winner.

I was always concerned about this, but I bit the bullet and our new 46" LED is far better quality than the old 32" CRT - it's all connected thro HDMI now. I noticed it most on the PS3, writing on the screen in some games was illegible on the old screen but crystal clear on the new. Not sure what's up with your friends TV, unless they're going through a scart lead.
Also interested but after a 37" myself. Toshiba ones seem to be highly rated. Am I right in thinking that LG are pretty much the same internals as Sony?
Try not to trust the opinion of anyone who owns a Sony TV, it'll likely break within a month.
Panasonic E30's are generally very good as are Samsung 6, 7 and 8 series.
Personally I struggle to choose/part with that much cash so I too am still stuck with a CRT.
Every year I go through a pretty thorough assessment of the market though and take so long that it's worth just waiting to see what is coming out next year.
One day a 40inch OLED panel will be available at a reasonable price - but I have no idea when that'll be!
