Been some kind of cold or virus doing the rounds at home, I have been mostly unaffected except ive had a sore throat for 2 weeks, been using Chloraseptic but it just wont go, its not bad but uncomfy and dry/sore feeling when riding.. so MTFU or doc's time?

It seems such a minor thing to bog the NHS down with..

Honey works to lubricate a dry throat for me. I also put it in my tea. It seems to soothe but it could equally be placebo.

I had exactly the same thing last week but it's just about fine now. Sore throat with no other symptoms. Had to take Ibuprofen every 6-8 hours for a few days it was that bad.

Must be something doing the rounds as a family we know have had it too, both parents sore throats but their 3 year old was hospitalised as it had spread to the lymph nodes. He's ok now though.

same here - mega cough no other symptoms

my immune system was low as i was on a very hard month of training. never mind weekend in bed and a fair chunk of sleep/rest and food- feel loads better.

id advise be careful if its anything like what i had you really dont want to push it as it is really awful !

I've got a sore throat. Had it for over a week now and I have very mild flu like symptoms. nothing to bad but I feel too drained to ride properly/fast. Its getting annoying. More bedrest and fruit & veg.

Had the virus a couple of weeks ago. As described, mild flu like symptoms, sore throat, blocked nose. Quite unpleasant actually and is rife in my office at the moment.

mmm, seems a lot of it about then, nothing major but it takes some shifting..

Trail-rat, we have a fantastic 3 month old baby boy, but I didnt know what drained was until now!!

Got a race wed night, see how I fare, I was proper pants 2 weeks ago but I had the symptoms Jon has then (and I crashed twice), now its just the sore throat bit..

To all you super fit but over trained guys who are feeling a bit under the weather - don't push it.

I was like that once, and while resistance was low developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome. It seems to target fit people. I was left with paralysis and general weakness. I don't think I have ever fully recovered.

I won't go into the miseries it causes you, but I suggest you Google it and then decide how hard you want to push yourself when you're drained. Rest and recovery are good things đŸ™‚

Had a sore throat for well over a week. Starting to go now and the wife has it, she's losing her voice. Every cloud has a silver lining.

That rules me out. I fall into the super unfit & under-trained category.

Nothing to do with super fit - I've had it too - mild flu for a couple of days and now a week of sore throat that spread up to pain in the ear when I swallowed.

Gentle commute today the first day I've felt like riding for a week.
