hi there
am i unlucky or are all sony cybershot cameras rubbish,
i have no issue with picture quality or usability,
but have suffered a failure to my dsc w130 camera,
the lense comes out and then thinks about it and returns,
had the camera for 13 months 🙁 so a month outside warranty.
and i know it wont be cost effective to get it sent away for repair,
the same happened to my dsc L1,
but i had this 3 years so I could understand the failure to a certain degree.
left with a load of peripherals such as spare battery and memory cards etc,
so in many ways makes sense to buy another sony,
also been thinking about a sony dslr
but have lost all faith in the cybershot brand and its reliabilty
what are other peoples experiences of cybershot cameras?
or are all camera makes the same and rubbish!
Some companys will honour a warranty claim in the 13th month. Ask them?
just checked my amazon account and it is 14 months exactly to the day,
do some companies honour warranty claims in the 14th month?? 😀
You can always ask them- it should last longer if it hasn't been abused.

I've had problems with a few p&s/bridge cameras. I think it's more that they're fiddly little things than anything else. Too clever for their own good.
No problems with the 2 DSLRs I have (both sony) despite using them much, much more. They're bigger, simpler and more robust.
My brother & bro-in-law both have Sony digital p&s cameras and they've been fine.
Probably worth speaking/e-mailing them about it before you look for a replacement.
my cybershot started taking white pictures, the shop{x2} told me it was a common fault on the sensors, phoned a repair place and after the qoute just moved onto a new brand, think like most things these days they want them to be throw away items that you renew quite regularly
yeah agree,
they would be shooting themselves in the foot if they design a camera that lasts forever.
will email amazon to see what they say,
but not holding out much hope to be honest
Be prepared to have to chase Sony directly as well though, even though your contract is with amazon. Presuming that the camera has been looked after & not dropped, etc., then IMO it's not fit for purpose if they think that 14months is an acceptable lifespan for it!
