So this months history of flooded engines, dented volvo's, insane insurance quotes, and no longer being able to afford the house im living in..

Well it was all put in to perspective yesterday by my colleague collasping in front of me on the site I was running. Despite us giving CPR from about 30secs after he hit the ground, was pronounced DOA at hospital.
28 years old, a year younger than me, fit and apparently healthy until he had a massive heart attack. Leaves behind a wife and 3 young children.

So, I might be broke, soon to be homeless and pretty hacked off with the world but at least im alive and (relatively) healthy. Time to stop worring about money and get on with working out how im going to get myself to canada.

RIP Luke, you were a good driller and a good bloke and you will be missed.

shit! it never rains but it pours! heartfelt commiserations mate, I lost a school friend in similar circumstances (he collapsed and died due to his heart, he was the fittest lad in the school, they had to get a doctor to take assembly and explain it to the class as the whole place refused to do cross country running, it was dreadful)

My sister's mate did this whilst they were standing around talking in town. She tried CPR but he was already dead as a doornail when he hit the floor. After the ambulance came, she wandered off to be by herself, went missing for a few hours.

My mum came and got me from school. I said 'oh yeah I bet I know what this is about' when the teacher came in. She said 'I bet you don't...'

My sister knew the lad's mum too. Apparently, dropping down dead ran in his family. Her husband had done it and her brother in law too. She knew it could've happened to her son any time. Poor woman.

Life, eh?

Btw are you dealing with it ok?

Total bummer.
Hope you're coping OK. I've been there and it's fairly soul destroying.

That's terribly sad. Sometimes we can get too self involved, but these events can certainly shock us into a real sense of perspective. There is always another level of hurt and pain. Unfortunately.

It's depressingly common unfortunately.

Similar to above, happened to a lad at school, just keeled over on the field.

I hear of at least one person a year dying in that way, some old, some very young too. Seems random. Try not to let it get you down. Do something nice for the family perhaps, selfish as it sounds, it will help you feel better about it.

Always someone worse off then yourselves. It's awful thing but at some point it will happen to us all but when they're young seems such a waste.

As others have said hope your coping with it and as you can see life's too short to stress over.

Sorry to hear it and best wishes.

Hmmmm. That's just stopped me feeling sorry for myself over nothing in particular.

Shit, thats terrible, truly terrible.
And so bloody unfair to a chap clearly in his prime.
Deepest sympathy to his Wife & children.
And to you also, sounds like you did your best for him.
RIP.

mate died in front of us whilst playing football when we were about 16, just fell down whilst running and didnt get up, we left him on the floor 'cos a) we didnt notice for a couple of minute due to the fact we were running after a ball and b) it was pretty slippery so lots of us had fallen over that day.

turns out he had a small hole in his heart that his mum knew about but never told him (diagnosed as baby, but no issues through childhood.

live life while you can. hope you're coping ok dude!

Yep, quite common, really fit MTB Photo Journalist I went riding with in the States, just died in his sleep one night. Anthony Sloan.

Really sad for the family and certainly puts life in perspective.

😥

Not good. I've got a friend who is one of the top cyclists in Madrid. Diagnosed with a heart problem and is undergoing tests, no more cycling until more tests are done.

Commiserations. 😥
