[Closed] So who is watching Eurovision 2022?

First time I watched it…wasn’t too bad really.

Realistically, I can’t imagine Ukraine having the security, infrastructure, resources or finances to host it next year, perhaps they’ll host it in another country.

I reckon we'll host it if Ukraine can't/won't. I mean second behind Ukraine this year is basically a win!

I’ve quickly stuck a quid on the uk to win, gets £6 return! 🤞🤷‍♂️

In hindsight, that was silly 🤣

I think Ukraine should say they'll be hosting it in Moscow

Should have been Moldova, Norway, France.

Everything else was musical semolina. Bland, bland, bland

Ok, which political move have I not considered that parked Germany into dead last?

The song was rubbish, and so was the performance.

As predicted, my Eurovision bet came in (unlike pretty much all the rest of them)

So I've donated my winnings

Nice to do something useful with one of my many bad habits 😂

Top night last night.

Result was right. Shame that the one year that we have a reasonable song happens to coincide with bigger events.

UK, Sweden, Toilet Roll Lady or France for the song. Spain for the ass.

What was the point of the long “dramatic” pause before announcing the audience total for the UK? You know the total number of votes from the audience and you know how many have been awarded, so the final one is known. In fact with two to go it was pretty obvious that there weren’t enough votes left for either of them to win.

Do you? I don't understand how that works. The audience scores seemed disproportionately high compared to the judges votes and I don't remember them saying how many total audience votes there were. Maybe I'd popped out for a piss it beer.

No surprise at the winner but the song was dreadful. Great show though

That doesn’t normally get in the way at Eurovision

I could be wrong as I've not looked into it in any detail, but from everything they said last night I assume the audience votes are done in the same way as the judges. Each country has a poll. The song that gets the most votes gets 12 points, the next one gets 10 and so on. So, the total number of points from the audience is the same as from the judges (i.e. it's 50:50). It's just the way that they are announced that is different. Instead of going round each country in turn they add them all up then reveal the total one country at a time.

Yeah, as soon as Moldova got humungous audience votes and then Ukraine got over 400, a quick bit of mental maths told you that the only way for the UK to win was for Spain and Sweden to get a tiny amount.

When the Spanish got the horny man vote (only kidding, it was a decent song), you knew it was all over.

It must be satisfying for Sam Ryder to know that in any 'old-school' Eurovision contest (pre-audience voting years), then the jury vote, which he won, would have given him the title.

I must admit I thought something weird had happened in the multiverse when we got the douze points off the French.

It's the Eurovision equivalent of the 94/95 Football League Championship, which still burns inside me at the injustice.

They both seem to be able to sing as easily as speak.

Mrs Binners and the girls were playing some of his social media stuff last night. He seems like a thoroughly nice bloke

Yeah, he deserves to be massive. He seems like the genuine article whereas recent entrants look like they were found doing karaoke in the pub the week before.

He should do more duets with his Swedish friend.

Agreed with the comments above.  I'm sure part of the reason he did so well was also because of how he came across, especially on the evening

I do hope that Sam Ryder now gets a serious boost.
A good song, sung and performed really well, by a nice bloke who has real charisma.
Deserves more than the a EV 2nd place.

OMG!!! I'm listening to More or Less on radio 4. It turns out the jury results were all fixed!!!

Edit: my wife tells me this is old news.

Ah yes.... found that. it's not really relevant though is it.
I'm sure it's been 'fixed' for a number of years but hopefully we [the UK] can now take it for the bit of fun it really is after our 'win' this year.
