I'm listening to Wild Flag's eponymous debut. They're something of a semi-Riot Grrrl super group with ex-members of Sleater-Kinney and Helium.
You may well enjoy them if you miss stuff like Belly, The Breeders, Throwing Muses, Madder Rose et al
They sound like this:
Your turn...
Wye Oak - Civilian
I Break Horses - Hearts
Call me a commercial sellout, but hey ho...
Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds
Coldplay
Jessie J
Snow Patrol
Cath and Phil Tyler Dumb Supper - trad songs about love and/or death, and some fine banjo spirituals.
Drive soundtrack - I am obsessed with it.
Madder Rose Bring it down - fond memories circa 1993.
Just now I was listening to "disco forever: the sound of underground disco" Dimitri from Paris
Wild beasts
Saw them in Bristol on friday. Very, very good live
I'm a big fan of Janet Weiss, so the Wild Flag CD will be on the list for Crimbo.
Really enjoying Boom Bip at the moment though.
+1 for Wild Beasts
Just dug out Dire Straits Alchemy
Miles Davis Bitches Brew...
QOTSA Rated R...
Coldplay
R1 live lounge
Ooh, Ooh, I just bought me some Future Sounds of London on a whim off the interplops.. not listened to it all yet, but sounds promising so far!
M83 Hurry up, We're dreaming, is getting hammered on the pod, as is Lana Del ray's EP. Bombay Bicycle Club is also pretty cool, and the album from Airships is nice if you like your coldplay, elbow sort of thing
Blu Mar Ten - Love is the Devil
Awesome!
Saw them live a couple of weeks ago and they smashed it.
Oh a whim, I've just played a shiny silver platter containing Poison's "Flesh & Blood."
CDs, eh. Who remembers those?
Gentle Spirit by Jonathan Wilson. Super mellow 8)
Rob Zombie - Hellbilly
Gillian Welch - The Hearth & The Harvest
Bonnie Prince Billy - Wolfroy Goes to Town
Luke Haines - 9 1/2 Psychedelic Meditations on British Wrestling of the 1970's and early 80's
Easy Easy Easy...

naughty name great band

The National - Black Sessions 2003
Modeselektor - Hello mom
REALLY enjoying King Creosote & John Hopkins - Diamond Mine.
Scottish folk at it's finest. (not traditional though, thats just shite)
Kind of agree with anto - Foxy Shazam are a sight to behold live, but do wonder if the unbridled energy/spectacle of the show translates onto 'just' a record.
Thanks for the King Creosote call - got myself that and enjoying it now!
There Is Love In You by Four Tet and The English Riviera by Metronomy are my go-to guys when I want to listen to music at the moment.
bristolbiker - MemberKind of agree with anto - Foxy Shazam are a sight to behold live, but do wonder if the unbridled energy/spectacle of the show translates onto 'just' a record.
Have to say, bought their album after seeing them live, yeh, the energy in the music is much greater live, but still, great album.
lushy schrickvr6. 8)

great new UK melodic hardcore punk band, very much 80s DC/dischord sounding (think rites of spring, teen idles etc or maybe sort of like shitty limits)...

Bon Iver - currently being looped in the car again and again
Saw Kong few months ago in manchester - ridic till he blew his amp.
Part Chimp at the Moment for me, and the first Amplifier album

Crikey, I've only heard of about 20% of those popular beat combos and solo artists .....
Martin Simpson's new album, 'Purpose and Grace' is rather nice if anyone's interested. It's got some jolly good guests on it such as Richard Thompson, June Tabor and Dick Gaughn.
I've also been listening to Jack Bruce 'Songs for a Tailor' Still sounds good after 41 years ........ I'll get my tartan dressing gown and slippers "3 sugars, please"
Steven Wilson, Grace for Drowning
Hope this works (Soundcloud link)

Still listening to Virtue by Emmy the Great a lot- should really take some more CDs out to the garage! Took a while but I'm liking it a lot now, wee bit patchy though.
Her christmas album with Tim Wheeler from Ash just arrived... I predict it will be honking.
Just listened to Katie Shrub's new album 50 Words For Snow, which I enjoyed very much, followed by Sea Of Bees Songs For The Ravens, and I'm now listening to Sharks Took The Rest's EP, Grounds For Hearts To Swell. (Album hopefully soon).
Along with those I'm working my way through albums by:
Asobi Seksu

Recent discovery, so the album Pocket Revolution as well as the latest one Keep You Close.
This is from Pocket Revolution (and has a 1min 50sec intro!)
Treated myself to "Disappear Here" by Hybrid.
Quality, quality album. Very recommended!
