While this is on the bump - anyone had an arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation type) treated?

Mine seems to be like a person 20 years older. Quite fancy a nice electric shock.

NHS info: "it tends to affect certain groups of people, such as those over 65.

It may be triggered by certain situations, such as drinking too much alcohol or smoking."

0 out of 3 ain't bad 🙁

I haven't but I'm pretty sure arrhythmia causes strokes so the one could have lead to the other.

Just out of interest, am I right in thinking that keeping hydrated reduces the chance of a stroke? Have the docs mentioned that?

Did you get a finger rammed

That’s only available through private medicine with a TIA, so I’m told!

So more of an FIA then?

Ton's your man for AF. A few others on here also have experienced it. I also ride with a lad who had it and got cured on the first "reset".

Yeah - the arrhythmia can lead to blood clotting, due to (something like) the non-smooth flow of blood. I guess a teeny clot was caused - the consultant was quite surprised at how short my apparent TIA was, so it must've been a teensy clot 🙂

Not had hydration mentioned, but I tend to anyway. Not that anything is going to happen again, but do need to get the wonky heart sorted cos it ain't normal.

Now look, no-one is gonna be putting any fingers near my bumole any time soon, thanks for the offers all the same!

Ah, cheers lowey! 😀 (very interesting thread that)

I have just seen this thread, and have to complain at all those who have made me laugh. Damn that hurts!

Glad you’re okay, DezB. There must have been something in the air that day to take two of us out at the same time!

for all that the occasional thread descends into a clash of 'experts' or whateraboutery, I thought I'd let you know this thread has just done some real tangible good; rider (of a certain age) blacked out whilst riding this afternoon and went down.

Much post-incident 'MTFU' blokey type nonsense was shouted down by a lightbulb going on above my head and citing this thread and info within. At best he might have gone to the quacks in the morning (and even then only because of the cuts & bruising from hitting the deck) but instead is now in hospital

pats on the back all round

"So the “verdict” is in, suspected TIA"

"Dude – you just had a TIA until proven otherwise…"

Hazzah.. (for being right, not, you know, your terrible health) I should do all my doctoring over the interwebz....

😀

Cheers hodgy.

I'm not happy with the meds I've been given - I wake up about 5 times every night now. Constantly knackered and my guts are in a weird state. Making me a right grump.

It's like, hey these'll cure you from something that might never happen again and make you feel totally shite for 24 hours, where you were fine before! 🙁  Probably* worth a call to the docs eh?

*definitely?!

Definitely worth chatting it through with your GP. It could be that you either need to try something else or give it a bit longer for your guts to settle down and energy levels increase.

Or stop taking them altogether.

If they aren’t right for you, stop.

Doubt you’ll die*

Just saw this on BBC Breakfast - did a search and couldn't find anything on here

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/46234803

Sounds like he is making / made a good recovery, hope he's back on the mike in due course.

Indeed. Sounds like it was a lot more serious of a TIA  than mine, cos I'd no way call my episode a stroke! I'd sue the BBC if they reported it as such! (Unlikely, I know 😉 )
