We will be in touch
After the January 3rd storm I needed a woodshed double quick. It's made from a 10'x8'x6' redundant water tank. Many here suggested flipping the tank to save making a roof, but it is made from 5mm steel plate which weighs probably more than a proverbial ton, which would have made fliiping a tad tricky.
I found some heavy duty, possibly prewar, corrugated iron to roof it this morning, and I cut another couple of vent holes to help with the airflow.
I'm quite chuffed with the result 8)
What name for an obsessive wood collector?
You'll get Stoner aroused again.
How big is your garden?
How's the water going to run off the roof?
Are you sure you've got enough wood?
*Is secretly impressed.*

I'd put a brace across the top front of the open end - I can see that spreading a bit over time with the weight of the wood on the walls - they're bulging a bit already.

Its about four inches higher on one side than the other, So the water should run off. I thought I was through cutting wood, but the storm brought me a windfall. Apologies for the pun.

The bulging was due to the water the tank contained, its bulging out on one side - in on the other.

The bottom's bending too...
s'ok he's put a log under that in a slightly off-centre 'that'll do' kind of way 😉
*fwaps*
How do you get the wood our from the botttom of the pile??
The bottom's bending too...
S'all right - just keep adding vertical poles as and when it does, a-la the one holding up the front cross beam 😉
EDIT: WWW got there first!!
You got wood
The bottom's bending too...
Yep, I cut through an outlet which weakened the bottom edge. I raised it with a HiLift jack and propped it up with a section of telegraph pole. Quickest and easiest repair.
have you drilled a drain hole at the lowest point in the base in case wind blown rain gets in?
Yes, when I emptied the last of the water, I cut a couple of triangular holes where the puddles collected to allow drainage.
You've got a thing for triangular holes, haven't you?
What I'm really disappointed in now is the fact that you can see into the back where you've thrown the wood in willy nilly and not stacked it nice and neat, like the front all the way through.
You're a bloody fraud!
😥
So you're either 8 feet tall or you've got to climb a ladder to get to the top logs....

A triangle requires one less cut than a square.

I thought the random stacking may help improve the through flow of air. Plus, I've still got this lot to house, and would like to have a life away from firewood.
I couldn't knock my wife up quicker than you knocked that thing up!
Paint some bloody pictures, man.
Even if they're of your thrashing, screaming nightmares about piles of wood..!
Noooooh not more log porn from McM, with added stylistic effects ... I can't take it ... 😉
ps methinks there's room for me to live in your outbuildings, you won't notice honest
is it strong enough to survive a falling beech tree though?
I'm having some serious wood envy!
Get that recreated twice as big and in triplicate as an installation in the turbine hall - it'd be fantastic.

That dog'll go up a treat - chuck it on the fire and it'll go wooof.
Coat is on.
I must be pretty sad as i actually found that very funny 😳
sorry mcmoonter, you seem to have gone to a lot of effort to make something that tbh, only a parent could love 😉
On the other hand, Inns has made something that looks neat and functional without the need for triangles.
btw my log pile is no looker too, so I know what its like to have an ugly log store 😉
It's a lovely woodshed 8)
I can see that when our entire socioeconomic system starts to unravel with the imminent collapse of our financial institutions, causing economic and social chaos, with rioting, and food, electricity, gas, etc shortages, you gonna be laughing.
Defend your log pile with your life. Have you got a gun ?
And don't forget to stock up on tinned food.
Remember......some will survive, and some won't.

Ponders applying for an Arts Council grant. Easily as valid as Tracey Emin's beach hut.
Maybe someone could photo shop it into the Tate's turbine hall to help my application chances.

I think this deserves more attention than it got 🙂
Genuinely laughed out loud at the wooof joke! My colleagues must think I’m mental. 😳
woof lol
the woof joke got me too, a laugh out loud one...
Think I have lifestyle envy, I'm loving McMoonter's set up
