I'm look for a good way to present some data...

Basically I've got 15 departments who have scores ranging from 12 to 18 and want an easy but good looking way of presenting this, ecxcel is okay but not really very mind blowing, any suggestions?

Pigs.

Paint the score on each side of the pig, then paint the number or name of the dept on the pigs head.

Let them go in the boardroom.

15 cakes, cut to show the score of the respective department.

With candles on.

Smarties, in a line, but layed out on the belly of 15 swimmers.

Male or female.

What's it a score out of? Is it 18 out of 20 or 18 out of 200?

What does your company do?

A score out of 20, not sure about the Ricky Gervais dance but like the sweets on swimmers idea. Matthew i'm a teacher, a bit bored with the usual excel stuff and fancy something a bit more visually stimulating, thought about 'wordle' but might try some alternatives..

If you have a Mac, Kinemac can do a fancy video presentation of chart data:

I don't mind having a shot at it tomorrow for you, but can't promise anything brilliant. 🙂

pupils in heights according to scores, may need to hack a bit off some if the scores are really low

Teachers. Hmm

How about presenting the data as different size pencils?

Or a background linked to each department? Maths, science etc..

Pencils could work, seems to be quite abit of software around just finding something free and easy. The overall score is made up of 4 categories, some of the scores come from 1 person, some from 15 therefore some are less reliable than others, not sure how or whether I need to include this. Mmmm...?

less is more, I do this shit for a living. Using excel remove row and column headers and present data in plain black text with thin grey borders and bold text on a different colour for the column headers. Look at the BBC football league tables if you need a bit of inspiration

Absolutely. Do you want people to absorb and interpret the data or be wowed by your computing skills? Personally I think tossing about with PowerPoint is completely counterproductive to effective communication.

Line up some straight glasses and fill them to the appropriate amount with whisky. After you've made the presentation, drink the whisky. Then you'll be like Mr Dubiatch, my old English teacher.

But make sure you don't touch my bottom.

display each column as pages of a mobile phone bill. The higher the score, the more pages. Kids should be able to relate to that!
