[Closed] Snacks that go well with a pint.......

Getting a bit bored with salted peanuts and crisps. My favourite is the crackling from roast belly of pork (chopped into strips and sprinkled with sea salt, eaten cold), but Mrs T doesn't do it very often. What snack can I get from a packet that goes well with beer/cold lager?

I like the sound of those pork scratchings. Are they real or reconstituted/artificial? Sorry to sound like a numpty, but although I've seen them, I've never tried them before.

If you can find a decent butcher then get Pork Scratchings. They are just the same as the pork skin your mrs does. Although you can get the skin from Morrisons sometimes.

Pork Crunch. If a Quaver and a Wotsit had a lovechild, then this would be their first born.

Asda do something called soya nuts - lovely, high protein and lowish fat. Great with beer.

Pork crunch is disgusting. The barmaid that served me that under the guise of pork scratchings almost wore the packet and my pint.

Depends on the pint really.
For example - steak mccoys: very good, but best with an ale, as the flavour's pretty strong (and repeats)
Scampie fries - lager, as you don't want the beer overpowering the delicate fishy flavours
Pork scratching - probably not til you've had a couple of pints, particularly if you come across a hairy one...
Pistachios - more a posh winebar type thing, but good if you can get 'em.
Obviously the best pint-related snack is a full on curry down the local curryhouse...

A warm scotch egg, preferably with a pickle to match the beer. A good pork pie comes in close at #2. Bonus being that you can cut both of them up so you don't eat it all at once!

Scratching if in a pub.

Lamb/vegetable/chicken samosas, if they are freshly cooked all the better but microwaved will do. Great with a flavoursome ale.

scratchings the more like toe nails the better.

or my fave a pickled egg in a bag of salt and vinegar crips.

what about crab sticks/cockles etc if you have a local fish seller who does a pub round I haven't seen one in years to be honest.

Chips and mayo.

Actually, throw in a currywurst too and a bread roll for the whole Schnell Imbiss experience.

Biltong and other SA dried meat treats. And smoking.

There is no greater truth than this.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned that perfect accompaniment to a good night out on the bev yet....

The best accompaniment to a pint that I've found is another pint.

TBH, normally I'd skip pub snacks and save may appetite for a pizza on the way home.

+1, although I seem to remember then being tastier & not quite as strong in the mustard deparment when they first came out, I also like the ham & pickle flavour.

Anyone remember how bad ads used to be?
