Just spent the last 3 hours searching my house for my old prolite thermarest, its gone vanished ☹️. Sadtimes it had been on many adventures.
Going bikepacking this weekend so need a replacement. Decathlon has the Forclaz bit heavier than other options but seems cheap and hopefully the Thermarest will find its way back into my life. Anyone used one or have other recommendations?

Used to use a Thermarest Prolite until it died. Then a Multimat until it delaminated at the valve. Then an Alpkit Thermarest clone, which delaminated spectacularly, rolling me off mid-sleep 😂

Now using a Lidl/Crivit one which packs tiny and has proven sturdy for two years now. Really impressed. More comfortable than the former mentioned. Lacks the thermal properties of the Thermarest but I don’t seem to need those until November in this climate. It’s basically the Alpkit Numo, yet cost half the price or less IIRC.

Might be worth a look in Lidl see if they still offer it. They are still sometimes available new on ebay but resellers tend to add a tenner, ie

Decathlon one is good.
Exped Synmat 5 ULs on sale just now. Good mat - comfy, light, insulated

The ground is almost as warm as it's going to be now so just get a cheap inflatable uninsulated mat. No need to spend loads - there's lots of variants on something like this: https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/sleeping-mats-c58/ultralight-airbeds-c138/multimat-adventure-air-blow-up-airbed-regular-p131

It's only fair that you buy a newer, fancier one now the thought has entered your head.

On the newer/fancier/lighter quest, I ended up with a Nordisk Ven 2.5 which is silly light and also tiny (not that I’ve used it properly yet - thanks COVID), and they aren’t too pricy. You do have to be fairly small, or sleep foetal style on it to not hang off the end, but pretty nice for an ultralight bivvy set up if that’s your bag (see what I did there?!).

I've used a decathlon forclaz one and I have a thermarest neoair, it's fine.
