Hi,

There are stacks of help forums for sketchup and I can't find the answer to what I hope is a straightforward question: I need to insert a component onto a model and align it to two insertion points i.e. two corners of the cube component are A and B and I want to match corner A to a spot marked 1 on the model and to match corner B with a spot marked 2 on the model. Spot 1 and 2 exactly match the dimensions for corner A and B of the model. So it's a bit like sticking the component into exactly the outline of the layout on the model. This will ensure that the component is correctly rotated when it's place on the model. And so, when I'm in the model and I want to orientate other components to their respective outlines, I want to be able to select the 'corner' of those components and match those to the placement points on the model. How do I that??

Can you do a screen grab as I'm finding your explanation hard to follow. Also SketchUcation is the best SketchUp forum have found.

I must be mistaken, but i think you just grab the model and drag it with corner A to point 1 then use the rotate tool at point A/1 and rotate it until corner B and point 2 snap together. If point 1 or 2 dont have snap points then either draw and delete them or use the dashed line tool (forgot the name)

http://www.valiarchitects.com/ and 1001bits atre both great tools if you have not already downloaded them.

Having another look at your image they should just snap together as they are all corners.
