Hello. My wreckless 5 year old son wants a skateboard. He knows nothing about them except that he enjoyed a quick go on a wooden one.

What should i buy him and any advice?

Under no circumstances, whatever you buy, should you try to ride it, especially in front of mini csb.

He has a bike and loves it. I have no issue with him also having a go at skating.

I will undoubtedly have a go at it and hurt myself, its inevitable.

Enuff do smaller decent skateboards for kids. The adult ones are decent and a very good price. Not sure if at that age the small size is still alright though. I guess it would be.

they are page two. thanks. do not forget pads and a helmet if he will wear them. You may get a decent cheap kids padset from sports direct although I am not sure. they have an online store.

Buy a bike was only semi serious but both my kids have wanted a skateboard at around 5. Both have been taken to a toy shop where they proceeded to stand on the skateboard, have the board shoot out from underneath them, fallen to the floor, changed their minds and brought a scooter!

Bear in mind, those Enuff mini boards are only a fraction smaller than a regular board. They're really intended for 10-11 year olds, that kind of age group.

Though in reality, I'm not sure there are many options for really small kids.

Most stuff is half decent these days. And for the price, you get something more than good enough for a kid just starting out.

Our local skate shop owner's kids all learnt on soft top minis so that's what we got our youngest

This one in fact https://www.tactics.com/enjoi/whitey-panda-675-mini-soft-top-complete-skateboard

Lovely little bit of kit, shes come along leaps and bounds since we got it.

they may not be much smaller than a regular board but they will have softer rubbers for a less weighted rider.

I was also going to suggest a small kiddies longboard for just cruising on but I did not see any kids ones.

My 6 year old daughter (who is probably smaller than your son) has this one: https://www.routeone.co.uk/skateboards/completes/mini/birdhouse-chicken-complete-7-375.htm it's nicely designed for kids, with shallow concave and kicks and a short wheelbase. She loves it

I've an as-new skateboard that we never gave as a gift, so if your son like orange and green then I'll gently point out https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163956312315.

Rossburton, is that suited to a small 5 year old?

Get posh truck bushes, as soft as you can. Independent ones.

csb: well, it looks too small for my 8yo... The base is 55cm long and 15cm wide.

Both of my kids started of on Enuff and Birdhouse boards at about the same age and they were good enough. They weren't doing much in the way of tricks at that age and they get the kids used to rolling around, doing kick turns etc.

Deffo agree with the post above about using soft bushings. Makes a big difference.

Both kids now on Welcome Nora V mini decks with indy trucks and spitfire wheels! 😯
