I bought Mrs Yeti a new phone for her birthday - nice of me. 😀 but the new phone uses a micro sim and the old one uses a normal sim. The old one is on contract, which we don't want to leave just yet, the new one is a pay as you go (both Tesco). What is the way forward to having a happy wife with a happy phone? 🙄
Buy sim cutter off ebay and swap over?
Ask for new sim card. Your provider probably won't care.
Go into Tesco and ask them for a new sim?
Get the scissors out. Print a template. Badderbing badderboom
ok, bit more googling. I can transfer the number over from sim to sim, but that changes contract. I think I will head to Tesco tonight with the phone and [s]tell them[/s] ask them nicely to sort it.

Ebay sim cutter only costs couple of £ and cutting standard down to micro is a doddle. Micro to nano ended badly for me though I'd avoid
Changed my kids sim card(s) more times than they clean their room, never changed the contract once.
It doesn't alter the contract. I walked into O2 and swapped a micro for a nano sim with no issues.
ok, whats the worst that can happen? its only a bit of plastic after all...I will let everyone know after I have cut my wife off from the rest of the planet and she has cut things off me... 😯

Or phone your provider and ask them to send you a sim out that fits your new phone.
this may come as a surprise to many but they can be quite helpful sometimes and in my experience are more than willing to do this.
Virgin did mine for free. They asked for an admin charge of £5 in the shop, and I pointed out what a wonderful customer I'd been for years, and surely thy'd not want me looking for a new sim myself to fit my new phone, and so they waived the charge.
Tesco will give you a new sim and a number to text to get your account moved to new sim. Done it with tesco twice and very easy!
after a chat with a very nice lady on the Tesco mobile site, all I need is to text [i]change[/i] to 23424 (or something like that) the reply promts for the new sim number, turn the new phone on with new sim in, and 24hrs later all details transferred to new sim...easy. 😀
Within 24hrs.... Mine was last over in 20 mins!
Cut mine down with scissors and a printed off template and was fine.
Then did about 25 at work over several weeks with a cheap ebay cutter. Some of the sims were several years old and needed a slither trimming off one side with scissors before putting in the cutter to avoid chopping off too much of the chip contacts.
I only buggered one up where I got cocky and didn't check if it needed trimming before using the cutter, and fixed it by trimming a tad more off one edge and then laying the card in the sim tray and pressing the 1mm strip on the opposite edge to move the sim over and it worked 🙂 (luckily, as it was number 24 of the 25 I did and the only damn time I didn't have a spare unassigned card with me in case of misshaps 🙂 )
