Got a new phone a couple of months back (Galaxy Nexus) and recently found a panoramic picture mode. It takes some lovely shots!

Example I took in the Peaks yesterday:

Anyone else taken any similar?

I wasn't crying and ****ing at the same time as I took my picture - maybe I should have been then I could get 34 million views too. 🙂

The CyB shot is an absolute cracker - I agree it doesn't look like a panorama though.

And nbt - I don't see a problem with the clouds?

I think it might be a multi-exposure HDR though? Nicely done if it is.

It's not a classic 'letterbox' panorama format, but it is 8 images stitched using panorama software. Images shot in portrait not landscape.

The Waterfall at Glencoe is 36 images from memory. I've got a 72" print of this. It looks awesome!

I just fit a few pano shots into a standard ratio file and order a large print from one of the online printers. Then it up into the individual panos.

Could you straighten your first Olden pano as the downhill water is making me feel ill. 😆

I can't see any issues with your clouds? ❓

You have some ghost leaves in the right hand tree.

I'm a real pedant for this sort of stuff but had to eventually give up trying to get the HDR blend of this 360 to work properly.

(if you click the pick to launch the 360, you'll see what I mean!)

I know, annoying eh? I didn't notice until I'd all done and posted the shot, and by then I just couldn't be arsed to fix it. It wasn't an arty shot, just documenting where a relative is buried.

Moisettes (quick nasty merge)

Lock your exposure and white balance before taking multiple shots to merge - that will help avoid those dark lines in the sky

(unless it is just light fall off near the edges of the lens - in which case you just need to A: get a better lens or B: shoot more shots closer together)

A somewhat dark shot of Chickerell ranges last year:

[img] [/img]

And another of Devoke Water in the Lakes:

[img] [/img]

Both shot with a dog-chewed Fuji F100d and stitched together with Hugin for the Mac. Not a bad little application either, although it does have problems with images that have little detail.

If you're trying panoramas on a phone then have a play with Microsoft Photosynth (iOS and Windows phone) - real-time pano stitching, very cool.

Superb shots so far.
One of the few stitchings I've done that stayed level - wish could commit more time to the practice. Just 2 shots I think, possibly 3, taken the evening before doing Torridon in May a couple of years ago.

I love panos, and there's some terrific ones on here. This is a pano of Fosse Lodge, near Grittleton, Wilts. I used to play there with my cousins when my aunt and uncle lived there. Shot in HDRPro on my iPhone, then stitched in Autostitch while I was there, three portrait exposures:

The Thames towards the barrier as seen from Woolwich Dockyard.

[img] [/img]

Sorry about the watermark 😉
Not really a true panorama, just a wide angle with the top and bottom chopped off- i don't have one of those fancy phones/cameras.
This was taken on my Canon EOS 1000D at 24mm.

[img] [/img]

And the barrier itself taken on actual film. 200ASA i think on my even older Canon EOS 50E at 28mm.
I got wet taking this pic as i had to stand in the rain waiting for the sun to come out 😀
Apologies for the watermark again (no joke intended 😆 )

Someone asked about printing them.....I've used these guys before for one. Not "photobox fast" but good print....

Try asda for a cheap panoramic frame.

Thanks, glad you like it, I have a much nicer edit not on flickr. I used to shoot a lot of them. They are done using a fisheye lens and then shooting 7 shots (the one below was 21 as its HDR. 6 shots round and one up gives 360*180 you stitch it and then transform in photoshop or your stitching software. Hugin will do it and it's free. You don't need a special lens & camera, you can produce most of the effect with a compact.

Garrrrpirate, that's a really nifty technique, the second one is really bizarre, like a weird little planet. 😀

Sorry, I will shut up in a minute. Not a true panoramic, but the format is panoramic. Telling stories about bird-shit at a wedding 🙂

I did a whole bunch in Inverkip power station - they look better when they're interactive: http://www.catchingphotons.co.uk/blog/?p=607

I'm interested to know how you lot are creating these. Is it that most modern Cameras now have a pan feature that just lets you drag the camera from one position to the other and then just produces the finished item ?. Or is there still a bit more work involved ?.

Depends - you can do decent sweep panoramas just handheld with a phone or some cameras. To do the full 360x180-degree ones like I did for Inverkip, you need a panoramic tripod head - I use a Nodal Ninja - then take multiple images and stitch them together later.

A few random shots. All 3:1 and all stitched in Photoshop. I'm getting into panoramics - I think it's a great format.
