I think most right thinking stw members don't like this.

But is it really damaging to kids? Or is it just offensive to our rose tinted middle class sensibilities?

Maybe some parents could comment? Genuine request for input, not a troll.

Probably, to some of them.

I think bikinis for 4 yr olds and the like are abhorrent and the shops that sell them should be ashamed of themselves but they wouldn't sell them if the parents of said little girls didn't buy them!

I've bought bikinis for my 2 girls and can't see why they'd be abhorrent. They wear them for swimming and playing in the paddling pool.

Perhaps you need to define 'sexualisation'.

Kids are already aware of their sex pretty much from birth, and it's only natural for children to want to imitate their parents. Now obviously, if the mother dresses like a crack ho then it's no wonder the daughter sees that as something to aspire to.

When dropping the youngest of at school I truly feel pain for some of the children who have already been severely hampered in life by the misfortune of having the parents they do. Mind you, I'm sure some have looked at my children and said the same!

We always encouraged ours to go au natural when swimming in the garden or at the park (until that age were self conciousness takes over...younger for girls than boys).

What I always find amusing (depressing?) is that in these so enlightened times we are so very very sexist still. Peeing boy statue on your lawn? Nice. Try having a peeing girl statue and see how long before you are stoned/arrested/both. Mum taking lad into ladies changing rooms? Cool. Dad taking daughter into gents changing rooms? I actually witnessed this and the panic as two staff members (both female incidentally) came charging into the changing room to tell the poor gent and his daughter that it was against rules! Sad.

Father of three with a huge extended family.

No problem with it. Let them explore their sexuality at an early age and hope they are mature enough to handle it. If they aren't then tough luck when they end up pregnant whilst still a child themselves and you can't really blame anyone else for making a quick profit at their expense by putting these images into their heads in the first place.
