I think it's an ok offering from an X-Factor contestant to be honest - I wouldn't buy it, but it's quite inoffensive.

White Stripes - creative, original, emotive, sparse - will always be great.
All three covers above are much less - each one less than the last.
Discovered Jack White used Anton Bruckner's Symphony #5 as inspiration - making me aware of a great piece of music.

I saw that one the OP's referring to on the kid's show Friday Download. My son watches it - one of the presenters said they preferred the cover. Duh. Amy Whingebag's cousin, the other presenter was correct in pointing out that the White Stripes one was great, but neglected to say the other was shit for the benefit of the viewers who wouldn't understand these things. I kindly helped my son in this respect.

Anyway... the white stripes must be laughing their tits off. I'd guess that the people who buy X factor CD's won't even realise its a cover version, and won't have a clue who the White Stripes actually are.

Meanwhile, they just sit back and count the publishing royalties coming pouring in. I bet they end up earning more than they ever did from their recording of it

How can you say Jolene is a crap cover?? I seen it live a few times before i got a copy but i just love that song - proper pain and emotion. Probably my favorite White Stripes track

I'm very disappointed that Jack's letting x-factor type people cover his songs. His $$$s must be running out.

Now, if only Meg would sort her self out and they do a comeback tour, then i'd be happy to chuck £50 their way to see them play again as they are easily the best band i've ever seen live
