Hi all - where would you recommend selling mid-high end hif-fi kit? Is eBay the best bet? I'm not on Facebook. Thanks

Yes, ebay is great for hifi. Might sit for a while but I have sold (and bought) plenty on there over the years.

Ebay is good.

The brands with good reputations can attract a lot of interest. The likes of Linn, Arcam, Audiolab etc. can go for sometimes quite silly money IMO.

I have always have my auctions end at 7 - 8 pm on a Sunday evening. Hopefully attracting punters who have had a few lasses of vino with their dinner.

Noice! I clearly need to re-calibrate my use of “mid” in hi-fi. No speakers?

And here's me feeling all s****y cos I just upgraded the platter on my Rega P1 to acrylic and put a microlinear stylus on to replace the original carbon one!

I'm not sure a 15k turntable, arm and cartridge combo can be classed as mid range but I bet it sounds amazing.

Edit: no idea why s w a n k y was starred out?

Christ on a directional bike!

If that's mid-range then that puts my Wiim Ultra, Roksan power amp and Audiolab DAC in the Amstrad mugs eyeful box.

try Pink Fish Media, though you need to get up to 50 posts there before you can use their classifieds

googles to see how much the stuff costs.

That's what I love about this place.  You go straight from a thread about people seemingly showing off that they never turn their central heating on and sit around the house in thermals and hats to one where people are asking where to sell a second hand Phono cartridge that's worth nearly 2 grand.

For that turntable, there are other used hi fi sites. There are also dealers on them that would be interested. I wouldn’t be using eBay for that, and don’t think a buyer would be either.

Try herewith an honest description of the items and why they are available.

Slight tangent but are people still buying cassette decks and tapes? It seems a bit weird but I guess they might. I've found my old deck in the loft and moved might try to sell it

Oh look, here's an SME Model 12 with a mere 63 people currently watching it:

Although worth mentioning that in contrast to the poster above I prefer to sell as a buy in now with offers. I have, on occasion, been surprised (pleasantly) at what some people will pay. That's if you're prepared to wait obviously. It's a decent time of year to sell now though so don't hang around.

Tapes are hilariously popular with Gen Z hipsters right now - clearly they have never spent an early evening with a pencil and their only copy of Master of Puppets just before all their mates come round for a party..

You'll probably get more money for a deck now than at any time in the last 20 years but don't expect much unless its a Dragon - those have gone stratospheric

Ha ha god I expected that might be the case!

Much as I loved the days of mix tapes.... Well who didn't?

I got rid of a Nak 582 years ago and often regret it. A lovely piece of kit.

I tend to use AVForums (not to be confused with AVForum which is US centric) for hi-fi stuff but I've never been buying / selling kit at that level so it might not be the right place (though other posts suggest there are people buying that sort of kit).

^^ I highly recommend The Audiobarn. It's where I bought my latest kit. Super helpful with a very broad range of components.
