I had a near-identical thing happen to me earlier this week
😀
Yesterday?
😛 Actually, yes.

I'm on your side. 😀
If it had been a Beemer I would have married you.
Now that I'm driving a minibus for the local council & I'm no longer a prison officer, I find myself being even more courteous than ever, even when Richard Cranium is around, & you know what? I quite like it. I'm not in a rush to get anywhere & my passengers safety is paramount.
On the way to the depot in my car is a different story. 😈

I'm no longer a prison officer,
I would imagine after being in the prison service eBay day is a greedy day now?
I know 2 people that have left recently. It's sounds an utterly brutal career to be in now. I know they couldn't wait to get out.
You feel the need to point out his age and his height. That, combined with the fact you're driving the worst driven vehicle on the road, leads me to think you would both be ideal buddies.
Can someone make this a post about cycling down the m1
It strikes me that you lost some dignity by reacting in a vaguely similar way, re deploying hand gestures.
I might have just let them in after giving a small beep of my horn.
I imagine that the total delay to your journey time caused by him being in front of you was a lot less than the amount you've spent on this thread.
If it’s safe to do so, i always let them in, if they are stupid enough to drive like twunts and almost have an accident to get past one more car then its safer to be behind them where you can maintain a safe gap more easily, the last thing i want is a self entitled twunt 0.00007 of an inch off my rear bumper.
Yes, it's always safer to be behind a twunt than in front of them.

You misread...where did I say I was driving a a BMW or a Merc!?
Dunno how you quote on this new-fangled forum, so I’ll use quote marks.
“You should have let him in rather than being a smug dick”
Yeah, right...
I had a similar situation on the A350 at Lacock recently, where there’s a left-hand lane for traffic to turn left for a garden centre and to go to Corsham, and a right-hand lane to carry straight on towards Chippenham, although filtering for traffic from the left-hand lane into the r/h lane is acceptable.
These lanes are light controlled, but if the lights on both sets are green then traffic will often be going through at some speed.
Anyway, I was in the r/h lane, allowing for other traffic to turn left, when a white Kia Sportage come blasting up on my l/h side, after I’d passed the turning, and where the lanes converged, forcing itself alongside me! I had no option but to do an emergency braking, thankfully there was nothing close behind, otherwise there would have been a multi-vehicle pile-up.
How the stupid cow, (and it was a woman, blonde, hair in a ponytail, glasses) missed ripping the side and front off the car I was driving I’ll never know, but my heart-rate went through the roof.
As it happens, she carried on in front, and turned off not far from where I live, so I’m very tempted to leave a warning note on her screen.
I’ll add that the car I was driving wasn’t mine, it was a car I’d picked up to deliver on Monday morning, as part of my job, so I’m always alert to any risk of damage to property that is in my care.
