What would your teenager refer to [s]play[/s]* as?
I know a forum of grown adults who play on bikes can answer this one. 😕

*(We don't play, we just hang about and mess about, play guitars, ride bikes, draw pictures (aka graffiti), kick cans, be silly etc etc)

Hanging out covers it.
Hanging out can involve :-

Play ,romance, learning to be social, being bored, being anywhere but home, being away from parental stares and the fear of missing something if you are not there. 🙂

Don't have a teenager of my very own yet, but when i was that age, we called it "knocking about" or "lekking" (Laking).

jamming

When I sometimes bother to ask my 18 tear old what he has been up to he usually grunts and says 'Jammin'....This gives me Bob Marley as my earworm for the rest of the day !

Up to no good, should be inside studying!!! 😈

My 2 refer to the thing by its name, or chilling if doing what I used to call dossing about, same as breadcrumb

I believe in modern yoof parlance they still say "play" but for some odd reason they always prefix with "for" which makes no linguistic sense to me. 😕

stuff

This. Anything and everything falls under this definition:

Me: What have you been doing up at [friend's house]?
Son: Stuff

Me: What did you do at school today?
Son: Stuff

ME: What are you going to do when you leave school?

...
