This isn't a look at my bikes for sale thread as I don't have them on here advertised.

Has the market just gone flat for second hand bikes? I've had 2 pretty decent bikes up for sale for a few months now, local facebook pages, bike forums etc... and no interest nothing. Bikes aren't overpriced as others priced around the same amount looking around, on ebay the same bikes have no bids.

I've only once not struggled to sell a bike and that was my OH's old giant which disappeared pretty quick.

Looking at threads on here and on bike radar and even the facebook groups there seems to be more selling less buying.

Is there a better time of year to sell?

Wheel and steerer size? Biggest problem some days.

Bikes aren't overpriced as others priced around the same amount looking around, on ebay the same bikes have no bids.

So other bikes similar are the same price but not selling?

I have dropped them below the others similar, I get the confusion in wheel size, I had the debate while out this morning for a blast, as we debated which wheel sized bike to get to next. Both decided a few years back it was full sus or hardtail now there are too many options!

Both of the bikes are tapered steerer, one is one of those 29ers and the other an old fashioned 26"

Its end of season. Its never a good time to sell.

Spring is a good time to sell as everyones looking forward to the summer and a new bike is inspired for the summer....

Not many folk buy a new bike for the winter !

Split it. Not many want to buy an expensive second hand complete bike.

I think the market at the moment is slower for complete bikes than it used to be and prices seem to have fallen sharply in the past 12 months at least.

I've seen many Orange Fives (26") listed on eBay and PB for months and months at £1600-£1800. All of the ones I've seen on authion are going for £900-£1200 sometimes with better specs...I'm taking pikes, reverb, crossmax etc.

Split and sell if you wouldn't get more the bike is over priced...you can't sell for more than the sum of its parts.

I've relisted the one on ebay with a low start price at £300, alu hardtail, Reba forks, 29er, mix of xt/slx/deore brakeset and gears starting at £300 that's a cheaper start than the sum of its parts and will see how that goes before I try the more expensive bike on ebay.
