I really dislike fish but had the seafood chowder, as I'm not such an arse that I won't try fish, from Harry's lounge in Whitby last year & have been mithering (in a good way) about it ever since. Anyone got any recipies they want to share?
Generally, if I'm searching, I look on bbcgoodfood, type in what I want, check recipes, anything with 4 stars and above with lots of ratings will be good. If it was me, I'd just make a leek, onion and potato soup and add some smoked haddock and sweetcorn to turn it into a chowder.
I'll never forget my dad's transported expression when first trying chowder. It was a steakhouse in Dublin, and it was admittedly the best I'd had.
Don't have the recipe but I remember mostly what was in it:
Salmon, smoked white fish (haddock?), stock, taters, celery, garlic, onions/(*edit) leeks (?), prawns, sweetcorn, butter, cream, seasoning. All veg finely chopped while fish was chunky.
Serve with that butter-milky yellow-brown soda bread. Food heaven.
(Had a look about online, this must surely fit the bill? Dingleicious.
